Where were you in '92?
The boys look fine, stereo's alpine
20/20, Thunderbird 12:09
Took a pill, good time, all the time
We were like grime
Labyrinth, world dance
Bagleys time
High-top fades
We ain't never paid
Roll-up jeans, E's, Lucozade
Versace jeans, chains and shades
We roll in there like we late
DJ's, MC's, private raves
Keep it secret, light it, mate.
Blow, blow
Here we, here we
go, go...
and some of them drink Bacardi
Some of them talk a lot of shit
and act rowdy
Some say people follow me
Some say people is the key
When the music's got a beat
then that's what gets me

XOX the MC5=hugs and kisses for the band that made "Kick Out the Jams" MTV has ADD=self explanatory NBC and BET=ditto BBC is OAP=stands for Old Age Pensioner. Means the BBC is for decrepit fogies like MTV is for lazy stupid kids REM=out of Athens, GA? KLF=another 80s English house band. IQ up the ICQ=multilingual instant messenger CB4=movie starring pre-fame Chris Rock as a rapper CPT=city of Compton BBD=the Calcutta business district ATL=Atlanta PDD=pervasive developmental disorder BIG=notorious NYC had R&B=yes it did OPP=Naughty By Nature hit, refers to "other people's pussy" YRB=Yellow Rat Bastard magazine? Could 808 not also refer to the Roland TR-808?
Could 808 not also refer to the Roland TR-808?
808 refers to the Roland, yes. TLC was a hip hop girl group, T-boz, Left-Eye, and Chili were their nicknames. OPP could stand for anything you wanted to (listen to the song) MC-8 is a music sequencer.

PDD does stand for that, but probably not in this context.

What PDD had BIG refers to is the relationship between P.diddy and Notorious B.I.G. B.I.G (Biggie) was signed under p.diddy's label, all throughout his career. Just like tupac was signed under dr.dre.

XR2 refers to a type of car namely a Ford Fiesta XR2
The song is a mixture of her experience partying in the rave scene in London and references to pop culture happening at that time.
92 = was one of the better years for the England rave scene Took a pill, good time, all the time = self explainatory labyrinth, world dance = specific dance events/clubs in london at the time E's, Lucozade = ecstasy + energy sport drink DJ's, MC's, private raves = self explainatory Keep it secret, light it, mate. = as in underground raves + spark up the weed *Whistle, whistle Blow, blow = raver blowing a whistle
chowfun18 did a nice job of covering the pop culture references
Where was I in 92?
Just being born.
Sorry M.I.A.
and SL2 could be a reference to Sri Lanka
Whoever wrote the stuff about the asteroid had to have been high. This is clearly about the rave scene in 92. Plus she refers to shit from 92 if you're old enough to remember it, you'd know that. The rave scene was at its peak in the early nineties everywhere I think. I know it was in the USA, also.
wooow. that's all i can say. & thanks to above.
Whistle, whistle Blow, blow Here we, here we go, go...
Is incorrect. What I am hearing ( what was on the lyrics when this song was on myspace) is "We so we so ruff, ruff,/Hillary Hillary Duff Duff" Now exactly what this means I am not sure but I love it
I dont think that the Hillary Duff lyric is quite right. I think she is making fun of the anagram words for every thing that have become normal vobac for the normal westerner
no offence but none of you guys know s hit Xr2 is a car, shes not refering to an asteroid. like "tell-me-what" said. that's why she says "in the Xr2" and "stereos alpine". and it is NOT "We so we so ruff, ruff,/Hillary Hillary Duff Duff" its tallking about british hip hop culture hence the references to clothing, drugs and music.
