Well, I've roamed about this Earth
With just a suitcase in my hand,
And I've met some bog-eyed Joe's,
I've met the blessed, I've met the damned.
But of all the strange, strange creatures
In the air, at sea, on land,
Oh, my girl, my girl, my precious girl,
I love you, you understand.

So, reel me in, my precious girl,
Come on, take me home.
'Cause my body's tired of travelling
And my heart don't wish to roam. No, no.

I have wandered, I have rambled
I have crossed this crowded sphere,
And I've seen a mass of problems
That I long to disappear.
Now, all I have's this anguished heart,
For you have vanished too.
Oh, my girl, my girl, my precious girl,
Just what is this man to do?

So, reel me in, my precious girl,
Come on, take me home.
'Cause my body's tired of travelling
And my heart don't wish to roam.

Yeah, reel me in, my precious girl,
Come on, take me home.
'Cause my body's tired of travelling
And my heart don't wish to roam. No, no.

Well, you took me in, you stole my heart,
I cannot roam no more.
Because love, it stays within you,
It does not wash up on a shore.
But a fighting man forgets each cut
Each knock, each bruise, each fall,
But a fighting man cannot forget
Why his love don't roam no more.

Oh, reel me in, my precious girl,
Come on, take me home.
'Cause my body's tired of travelling
And my heart don't wish to roam.

Yeah, reel me in, my precious girl,
Come on, take me home.
'Cause my body's tired of travelling
And my heart don't wish to roam.

Yeah, walk with me, my love, my love,
Walk tall, walk proud, walk far,
For you know my love, you are, you are,
You are my shining star.

Walk with me, oh my love,
Walk tall, walk proud, walk far.
For you know my love, you are, you are,
You are my shining star, you are, you are.
Yeah!

Reel me in, my precious girl,
Come on, take me home.
My body's tired of travelling
And my heart don't wish to roam.

A lot of Old Who fans have trouble believing that the Doctor fell for a Companion, and I don't blame them... looking at the past 8 Doctors they do seem very cut off and emotionally distant from their Companions.

But the new series is better IMO. There's more emotion which makes it more realistic, and there was great chemistry between Rose and both Doctors. It was an extremely beautiful, moving love story - refreshingly sweet and innocent. Reading the lyrics of this song and the ones of 'Song for Ten' just makes me cry, knowing full well that Rose is gone forever.

Mm, it is about Rose. The little leaflet that came with the soundtrack says so. I absolutely bawled when I first heard this. I love that it's such an upbeat song with such depressing lyrics. Never thought that would work, but it really, really does.

This song feels like it's about loss, despair, disorientation... Something the Doctor knows all too well. Nine was fresh out of the Time War, perhaps the most horifying, barbaric and nightmarish conflict of the universe, one that broke the fabric of time itself and spawned countless cosmic abobinations. Then, to end it, he had to annihilate not only the Daleks, but his own people, since they had become as twisted and dangerous a threat to the universe as their enemies. So he was very much in something close to PTSD when he encountered Rose - and it shows. You look at an ep like "Dalek", and you see the wrath of a broken warrior in the Doctor. She brought peace in his life, she was sweet, kind, honest, plucky and good-natured. Lots of fans absolutely despise the way their relationship deteriored, feeling like they presented her as some Mary Sue that was better than all his previous companions. But she wasn't. She wasn't perfect or better, she was what he needed when he was at his most vulnerable. More than loving her, he needed her, hence why he became so attached to her, perhaps more or at least in a different way than to his previous companions. And with her gone, he lost the one person that managed to fix him, make him smile. No wonder he was depressed. And that song shows it perfectly.

just like in song for Ten it mentions that she is his star. but i dont really know who this is about, i would say Rose but he was never gona stay put for her. He was glad when he nearly did with Madame de Pompadeur tho... but i doubt it wouldbe about her, and it sounds to modern, it wouldnt fit i prefer song for ten but stil like it lots

Can I just say that I LOVE this song? It's not only a good, fun song, but it's so utterly perfect for the Doctor and Rose. It is obviously, obviously about her. Rose is the only one the Doctor has ever truly loved. Well, I don't know about the old series, but I think ever since meeting Rose he will never be the same. It's interesting, like Song For Ten, it's a deceptively happy song. It sounds upbeat and catchy, but then you listen to the lyrics and it's about how the Doctor doesn't know how to go on, because Rose is gone, and all he wants is to be safe and happy, back with Rose. My favorite line is: "A fighting man forgets each cut, each knock, each bruise, each fall, but a fighting man can not forget why his love don't roam no more." The Doctor mentions in the Christmas Invasion that his new hand is a fighting hand, and he's a fighting man. He may be able to forget all of the death, all of the destruction he's seen, been a part of, or caused, but he can never forget why Rose is no longer by his side. I think that people like Mme de Pompadour were just mild infatuations, and nothing serious. I mean, can you blame the Doctor for falling about for Mme de Pompadour? She's beautiful, charismatic, and such an interesting historical figure. But the line "Oh, my girl, my girl, my precious girl, I love you, you understand" proves to me that Rose is his only love. She promised him forever, and that's what they both wanted. Forever, together, traveling the universe, through time and space.

I downloaded this today and was surprised how much it sounds like The Snake by Al Wilson. It's a complete rip off. Like it though.

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Cajun Girl

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
