Balaclava Lyrics

Running off over next doors garden
Before the hour is done
It's more a question of feeling
Than it is a question of fun
The confidence is the balaclava
I'm sure you'll baffle 'em good
With the ending wreak of salty cheeks
And runny makeup alone

Oh, will blood run down the face
Of a boy bewildered and scorned
And you'll find yourself in a skirmish
Where you wish you'd never been born
You tie yourself to the tracks
And there isn't no going back
And it's wrong, wrong, wrong
But we'll do it anyway 'cause we love a bit of trouble

Are you pulling her from a burning building
Or throwing her to the sharks?
Can only hope that the ending is a pleasurable as the start
The confidence is the balaclava
I'm sure you baffle 'em straight
And it's wrong, wrong, wrong
She can hardly wait

That's right, he won't let her out his sight
Now the shaggers perform
And the daggers are drawn
Who's the crooks in this crime?

That's right, he won't let her out his sight
How the shaggers perform
And the daggers are drawn
Who's the crooks is this...
Crime!

That's right, he won't let her out his sight
That's right, he won't let her out his sight
That's right, he won't let her out his sight

You'll be able to post any day of the most
For the sights of all time

You knew that he'd be trouble right before the very first kiss
Quiet and unassuming, but you heard that they were the naughtiest
She pleaded with you to take it off
But you resisted and fought
Sorry sweetheart I'd much rather
Keep on the balaclava

He is comparing his balaclava (a mask) as the mask he uses to hide his emotions and true self from any girl he happens to be hooking up with. He is comparing relationships and falling in love to committing some sort of crime (usually someone ends up hurt in the end).

He says will it end in salty cheeks and runny makeup (will the girl get hurt?).. or a boy bewildered and scorned (will the boy get hurt)? And when he says "or will blood run down the face of a boy?".. (intending when he gets hurt, he hurts deeply, as if to say "you may cry mere tears, but I cry blood."). So he keeps on the balaclava (doesn't offer his true emotions or love to a girl, in order to prevent being vulnerable).

"Now the shaggers perform, And the daggers are drawn, Who's the crooks in this crime?" Shagging (making love, or getting involved) can be as brutal and painful as a knife-fight.

In the end, she's pleading with him to take off the balaclava (to get close, show me your feelings) and he says, "I'd much rather keep on the mask" (not get emotionally attached).

thank you - thought i had to explain it to everyone for a second there lol!

alex talked about this when they were in brazil in oct/nov. it's pretty much about casual sex. he likes the non-attachment, rush, feeling. when the girl wants to get to know him, he stays emotionally unattached, keeping on his "balaclava"

yes!

i love this song. one of my favourites

although i swear the lyric is

'sorry sweetheart i'd much rather keep on the balaclava' instead of 'abba drava'...?

yes!! i believe you are right! abba drava isnt anything, i mean just google it theres nothing lol

Okay. heres my take.

with the balaclava on (a face mask), you can be who ever you want. It gives you a rush. you can pull her from a burning building and be the hero, or throw her to the sharks and be the villain

but in the end, he just wants the girl! so he has her... but he doesnt want to show her who he really is. :) simple as that.

songs obviously about sex. keep on the balaclava

most likely about a gang of teenagers causin trouble on a night out really easy to relate to the last lines i think are about a girl tryin to connect with a boy she likes cuz he causes trouble a lot and she wants to see a nicer side to him and his balaclava is his mask, which is why the lyrics are: sorry sweetheart, please no drama, keep on the balaclava so that must mean he's keepin this "mask" on and won't let her in

Firstly: This song is my favourite by now. I really love it.

Secondly: I interpret this similar. But if the lyrics are right then the girl's gotta be a member of this "gang". He's telling her to "keep on the balaclava", so this means she has one, too.

She seems to like him because he "baffles 'em straight" and because he likes "a bit of trouble".

She falls in love with him, asks him to take off the balaclava (to kiss? to end the gang-being?), but for him "causing troubles" is more important and so he's keeping the balaclava on and asks her to do the same.

I don't get it why he "won't let her out of sight" though.

Well, maybe I'm very wrong.

I think there is a little mistake in your interpretation. He's not asking her to take HIS balaclava. She's already wearing one, he's asking her to KEEP it >on

the guy is the one wearing the balaclava.

i think the last lines should be:

"she pleaded with you to take it off, but you resisted and fought. 'sorry sweetheart, i'd much rather keep on the balaclava'"

You ever think that this boy is beating her up because it says -"ooohh will blood run down her face" Also he seems pretty over protective because he won't let her out of his sight. She knew all along what she was in for and maybe she wanted the excitment of danger.... but I'm not really sure
