its amazing how far music can come.. 24 years after it released and its one of the most heartfelt songs ive heard
Attract me, 'til it hurts to concentrate
Distract me, stops me doing work I hate
And just to show him how it feels
I walk past his desk in heels
One leg resting on the chair
From the side he pulls my hair
Amy, Amy, Amy
Although I've been here before
Amy, Amy, Amy
He's just too hard to ignore
Masculine, you spin a spell
I think you'd wear me well
Amy, Amy, Amy
Where's my moral parallel?
It takes me half an hour to write a verse
He makes me imagine it from bad to worse
My weakness for the other sex
Every time his shoulders flex
The way the shirt hangs off his back
My train of thought spins right off track
Amy, Amy, Amy
Although I've been here before
Amy, Amy, Amy
He's just too hard to ignore
Masculine, he spins a spell, yeah
I think he'd wear me well
Amy, Amy, Amy
So, where's my moral parallel?
His own style, right down to his Diesel jeans
Immobile, I can't think by any means
Underwear peeks out the top
I'll let you know when you should stop
From the picture my mind drew
I know I'd look good on you
Amy, Amy, Amy
Although I've been here before
Amy, Amy, Amy
You're too hard to ignore
Masculine, you spin a spell
I think you'd wear me well
Amy, Amy, Amy
So, where's my moral parallel?
Creative energy abused
All my lyrics go unused
And when I clock black hair, blue eyes
I drift off, I fantasize, yeah-yeah
Yeah-yeah, ay-bay, ah, yeah-yeah-yeah
Amy, Amy, Amy
Although I've been here before
Amy, Amy, Amy
He's just too hard to ignore
Masculine, he spins a spell
I think he'd wear me well
Amy, Amy, Amy
So, where's my moral parallel?
Amy, Amy, Amy
Although I've been here before
Amy, Amy, Amy (yeah)
He's just too hard to ignore
Masculine, he spins a spell
I think he'd wear me well, yeah
Amy, Amy, Amy (oh, yeah)

Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.

He certainly did earn that reputation.

Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
who hasn't felt this way???
I think everyone missed the boat with this one. I strongly believe this song is about amy's experience with the evils of the music industry. although she knows what to expect when joining the ranks of rich and famous, she simply cannot resist it. I believe the "he" she is referring to could be the devil. If you really listen to the song with that in mind, you'll be able to see what she's really talking about. "Although I've been here before, he's just too hard to ignore" Amy is an old soul and understands full well what she's getting herself into with these illuminati freaks, yet she can't resist.
"i know I'd look good on you" even though its wrong, she knows she'd succeed in this evil industry.
"where's my moral parallel" she still battles with her decision.
Temptation at its worst, disguised as an attractive man
this is my favorite song..but all of them are lol. It's about having somone that you just want to leap on everytime they are around so much so that you can't concentrate.
nice way of putting it ;-)
"leap on" is pretty good
lol just teasing you
I love this song to bits and back, but I think she completely ruins the feel of it with the terrible histrionics at around 3:09.
I love you, Amy, but don't do that again. Please.
Unspeakableme, I know! If I wanted yodeling, I'd listen to Christina Aguilera...
But seriously, apart from that this song totally rocks. It makes me happy :]
i always thing "aguilera" on that part of the song :D
one of my favorite songs on this album.
i never even notice the yodeling part.
I love this song. The call and answer with the girl group, it's fantastic. And even the yodelling is great; it's just pure, happier Amy.
It's pretty obvious what this song's about; some guy, who she just can't stop thinking about, who she works with, and occasionally sees outside of work.
This song is just great at telling the story of attraction.
