Let the Flames Begin Lyrics

What a shame
We all became such fragile, broken things
A memory remains just a tiny spark
I give it all my oxygen
To let the flames begin
So let the flames begin

Oh, glory
Oh, glory

This is how we'll dance when
When they try to take us down
This is what will be
Oh, glory

Somewhere weakness is our strength
And I'll die searching for it
I can't let myself regret
Such selfishness

My pain and all the trouble caused
No matter how long
I believe that there's hope
Buried beneath it all, and
Hiding beneath it all, and
Growing beneath it all, and...

This is how we'll dance when
When they try to take us down
This is how we'll sing out
This is how we'll stand when
When they burn our houses down
This is what will be
Oh, glory

Reaching as I sink down into light
Reaching as I sink down into light

This is how we dance when
When they try to take us down
This is how we'll sing out
This is how we'll stand when
When they burn our houses down
This is what will be
Oh, glory

this song is very beautiful and emotional. i think this song is about feeling so miserable and despair full that you just want to give up. Yet at the same time something is telling you to hold on,have faith, and keeping searching for something to hang on to.And one day you will find that spacial thing and you will be able to keep your head up and keep being strong no matter how bad things get.

this songs sounds cynical....It could be about a flawed individual whose traits and personality is seen as a weakness in the eyes of others because of the numourous counts of failure....this gives them a burning ambition to proves others wrong by using their weaknesses as a strength. Basically every person has their own dance and I guess this person found the perfect tune to it.

What a shame We all became such fragile, broken things A memory remains just a tiny spark I give it all my oxygen To let the flames begin So let the flames begin

What a shame we got the F'ed up end of the stick. and It greatly effected us, we aren't the normal, we're the ones the world is afraid to face because then the world would have to face the flaws that made us who we are. Everyone would much rather extinguish the voice of the abused, the raped, molested, hurt, poor, dying, handicap. "I'll give it all my oxygen" = I'll die before I give up/be forgotten.

"Somewhere weakness is our strength And I'll die searching for it"

But we can't let that stop us, we might have started off broken... different but that difference didn't stop us, so we use the pain of our past... the weakness within us... to make us stronger.

"I can't let myself regret such selfishness My pain and all the trouble caused No matter how long I believe that there's hope"

The world would have you forget and move on... how selfish it is to just throw away all the painful experinces of your past. Those experinces can be used to motivate you, to help others, to show others ...light.

So no matter what happens, we, who've already felt pain can withstand it, and it wont stop us from dancing, you can burn down our houses, but we dont live there anymore.

To me, this song is the ultimate war cry.

"What a shame we all became such fragile, broken things A memory remains, just a tiny spark I give it all my oxygen, to let the flames begin To let the flames begin"

A war or great trial of life has made us fragile and broken. A memory remains of something good. It is small yet sufficient. It can be love, hope, faith, etc. You put everything into this small thing because you know you have the power to make it into a flame. she speaks with "we" and "I" because she may be the one leading the war, guiding others to stand up and fight.

"This is how we'll dance when When they try to take us down This is what we'll be, oh glory"

She wants them to know when the war is done, this fighting, them standing up together will be what they remember.

"Somewhere weakness is our strength, and I'll die searching for it"

Someday the weakness we feel we be our strength, and she wont give up on finding it. On finding the strength to fight.

"I can't let myself regret, such selfishness"

She can let herself regret fighting the war because that would be selfish to the people who trust her and are following her into the war. It would be selfish to regret when so many people believe in her cause.

"My pain and all the trouble caused, no matter how long I believe that there's hope"

She believes there is hope after all the pain and suffering.

"This is how we'll dance when When they try to take us down This is how we'll sing oh This is how we'll stand when When they burn our houses down This is what we'll be, oh glory"

When they come after us, when they take away the things we hold dear, we will stand together and our strength and the way we fought will be our glory.

"Reaching as I sink down into light (To light) Reaching as I sink down into light (To light)"

Reaching, trying to pull others with you into the light. You've found some kind of peace among the storm and are reaching for something or someone that was lost in the storm or war.

In the live performances Hayley adds in:

"Oh father Oh father Oh father My jesus Father Well I am ready Won't you let it begin now Cause I am here now, I want you dance in The mighty palm of your hand, your hand"

This can definitely go back to those Christian references everyone was talking about. I think its about redemption and salvation in the end. She wants to go the glory of God.

I think my perspective of this song was definitely solidified into an actual opinion by listening to Part II. I was definitely at a different place in my life when i first heard this record. It felt like the raw emotions i was feeling, due to being pushed down by everyone around me. Now i see it more as a war cry (like "come join me and let us fight together"). I feel like part of me grew up with this band :]

the lines "This is how we'll stand when When they burn our houses down This is what will be our glory" Burning a house down. Home is where the heart is...our houses are a ground for security and privacy or our dreams..the person could have had enemies who have bullied or exposed them shamefully, taking away their dignity, dreams, confidence..well u get the point by now. I hope. lol. xP

Whenever I listen to this song I picture a revival. Perhaps they're seeking a revival? Because they're broken...and through their weakness God is strong. They decide to give God everything and doing it all for His glory. Even through persecution (When they try to take us down; When they burn our houses down) they'll continue to praise Him(This is how we'll dance).

For some reason out of all their songs I got such a God vibe from this one, and it's not even that christian but I just, the feeling man, I can't describe it

Cover art for Let the Flames Begin lyrics by Paramore

i think this song is about the persecution Christians experience every day. what the world doesn't know is that the christians say "bring it on" because they have God and suffering for Him is a great honor and brings Him glory. i think "let the flames begin" means bring it on, we'll still be dancing and praising God even when you burn down our houses. i also think the line "somewhere weakness is our strength" comes from 2 Corinthians 12:9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness" which basically says that if you surrender to Him, God will take your weaknesses and turn them into power for the Lord.

this is my favorite song of all time. it IS inspiring.

Not that it takes away the thunder of your second half, but throughout history Christians have done more persecuting than being the persecuted. Unless you include historical Jews before the two religions split up, and even then the actual count doesn't change what I just stated. I just thought that'd be a nice thing to note despite how old this is.

I think it's about living through life's trials and tribulations, and how there are people that will constantly try to tear you down, but how in the end how to stand tall and show that you're okay. when the song refers to "burning our house down" it could mean that some things can really strike you deep, but somewhere deep down there is still some type of inner strength that could help to pull you through ("Somewhere weakness is our strength... My pain and all the trouble caused/No matter how long/I believe that there's hope/Buried beneath it all, and/Hiding beneath it all, and/Growing beneath it all, and...").

but thats just what i got out of it, take it or leave it =]
