Don't you be saying that I'm lucky
Don't you, no, no, don't you dare say it's okay
Don't come around being happy
And don't you be crying without me
'Cause I'll fall again if I see your face again, my love
And I've done all my crying for you, love

So don't break my heart again
Don't break my heart again
'Cause if I see your face again
You'll break my heart again

So don't you go rolling them blue eyes
And don't you go pissing on my fire
Down to the bed where we laid
And down to the park where we saved ourselves
I cannot be in matrimony with a dream of love
Like on this silver screams my love

So don't break my heart again
Don't break my heart again
Don't break my heart again

Don't break my heart again
'Cause if I see your face again
You'll break my heart
You'll break my heart
You'll break my heart again

this is exactly my situation... kate walsh realy nails it right.. The only thing she doesn't mention is that when you actually see that other person feeling like crap ('don't go around being happy'), you feel really bad for wanting it in the first place... well, i did.

probably my favorite song of Kate Walsh, i think it's about someone who was in love with someone,in a relationship, and this other person doesn't get that after they broke up, she can't see them again. i know what it's like to not be able to look at someone with them breaking your heart again. (Cause I'll fall again If I see your face again my love)

only thing is, i believe it's 'like on the silver screens my love' instead of 'screams'. It makes more sense, refering to the cinema or the TV; how beautiful love always seems in movies

There's a two-part interview on Youtube where she talks about this song. It's about the dread she felt at meeting an ex-boyfriend.

Once again, she nails it. If you've ever been in a situation like this you know how incredibly miserable it is to see an ex again, especially happy. It hurts and brings back all of that pain and heartache and makes you fall back in love with that person all over again. This song couldn't describe it any better.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
