Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.
I have to wonder if this wave's too big to ride
Commit or not commit in such a crazy tide
It's sooner than I thought but you called me out
I've lost control and there's no doubt
I'm gonna start all over
Out of the fire and into the fire again
You make me want to forget
And start all over
Here it comes straight out of my mind or worse
Another chance to get burned
And start all over
I'm gonna start all over
Fantastic and romantic all a big surprise
You've got the warning hesitation pushed aside
It's sooner than I want but you caught my heart
I guess I'm ready now to start
I'm gonna start all over
Out of the fire and into the fire again
You make me want to forget
And start all over
Here it comes straight out of my mind or worse
Another chance to get burned
And start all over
I'm gonna start all over
It's so easy
You disrupt me
Can't complain
It's so easy
You disrupt me
Can't complain
It's so easy
You disrupt me
Can't complain
It's so easy
I'm gonna start all over
Start all over
Out of the fire and into the fire again
You make me want to forget
And start all over
Here it comes straight out of my mind or worse
Another chance to get burned
And start all over
Out of the fire and into the fire again

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Fortnight

The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
looooooove this song!
it has no meaning. but its a good tune
I actually this it's about a girl who has been in a relationship that went bad before, but she just met this guy that's really nice, and she's like "Fuck it, I'm gonna let down my inhibitions and get close to you regardless."
its about Nick she means she wants to start all over
no its not you retard, this song wasnt written by her, and even if it was, this was before the whole Nick thing
she didnt write this song,
fefe dobson did
it's got a great catchy beat!
i don't think it's necessarily getting back with an ex but just getting close to a boy all together again
this song makes me think about when i first started talking to my now boyfriend
Whoever said this has no meaning is really dumb. There is an obvious meaning. The boy has given her hard times before but she is falling for him again. She wants them to start a new.
I feel like breaking down each verse but I am tired.
how are you even sure these songs are about nick jonas? this little girl doesnt write her own music. she has people do it for her. i love her though, but seriously quit giving the girl so much credit.
People write her Hannah Montana music, well most of it. Miley Cyrus writes her music. That's why it takes her longer than 2 months to come out with a new CD...unlike Britney Spears.
This song actually does remind me of Fefe Dobson. but I don't really think it has to mean about getting back together with the same guy. I think it's about getting out of a relationship and still being in that kind of rebound period, but meeting somebody new who you really like. Even though you just got "out of the fire" you go ahead and jump into a relationship with a person because you really like them, even though it's "another chance to get burned".
and by the way, is it just me or does the sound of that "but you called me out" part remind you of the song for that old show "Daria"?
Anyone notice the fucking beastly "START ALL OVER" screams in the background of the chorus!?
YES...and its quite hardcore for miley cyrus. i found it very interesting
