This song is on Instant Karma, the campaign for Darfur. I am probably a terrible person for never hearing John Lennon actually sing it, but I thought Avril did a fantastic job with it. It didn't sound like her, it was so great. I loved it.

This is such a beautiful John Lennon song, and of all the new artists out there, they had to choose Avril Lavigne. Did they actually want to make the song sound hideous? I have no problem with Avril Lavigne, obviously she is a somewhat talented young women because she has a huge fan base and hit songs, but this just isn't right in any way. She needs to stick to her bubblegum pop songs, that is most definitely her forte.
I'm rather taking offense to people who say she ruined it...because this song is the most beautiful song in the world, because of it's message...it is only sung by those who believe in the message. Avril Lavigne is singing this song to promote peace, and then some people have the nerve to say she ruined it? GlorifiedG, how do you know what Avril Lavigne thinks about this song? Have you discussed politics with her over a cup of coffee?

IDK why anyone would downplay a person who takes on this song, generally..yeah they know they cant do this song justice..i mean..could ANYONE?...john lennon was amazing....especially when he sang this song...lets not be silly...people sing this song/cover for the MEANING...let it be IMO
personal feelings, i think she did a decent job considering her vocal range, i like avril..do i think she has an omg amazing voice..no...but i love what she does, and generally most of her songs
