Don't have to be the prettiest
If you have the mind
And willingness
No one stops a girl who knows what she's got
No reason why
I can't help following with my eyes
Even at my best I guess I'm still just one of them.

I see it all in my head:
Cool hands on your sweat
You wanna make me mad?
Stop
Because I am

A combination of strong and lust:
How easily you turn, then turn it off
Do you take what you want?
Then save it for a better time?
Don't act that way
Honey, I don't buy it at all
If you're really as tough as your defenses
You'd let them fall

I see it all in my head:
Cool hands on your sweat
You wanna make me mad?
Stop
Because I am
You can call this a game?
Then you can look at my face
You wanna hurt me, baby?
Stop
Because you have

I see it all in my head
Cool hands on your sweat
You wanna make me mad?
Stop
Because I am
You can call this a game?
Then you can look at my face
You wanna hurt me, baby?
Stop
Because you have

You wanna make me mad?
Stop 'cause I am.
You wanna hurt me baby?
Stop 'cause you have.

I've only heard the unmastered demos of their new tracks, but I think he says:

"If you're really as tough as your defenses Let them fall"

    and not

"But he has taught as your defenses and let them fall."

Also "There's no one stops" there is no "There" at the beginning of that.

Still, this has to be my favorite track from their demos for the new album. It's just the right combination of love, sadness, and pop melody. A perfect JEW song.

For me, it's their traditional relationship song. He's with a girl that most can't see the depth of. Even though he sees more in her than just her outer appearance, she still puts him through foolish games and situations. She does it as some sort of defense mechanism to prevent herself from getting too close to him. She cares for him, but she's proceeding like a little girl about it all. She's not trying to push him away, and he knows that, that's why he tells her to "stop", because if she continues it will ruin them.

That's just how I view it. It oddly reflects something I'm going through. Well, just went through. Still, I love this track out of the bunch. The album is very nice, but this is the standout track, for me.

It is a shame that the final copy of Chase this Light doesn't have this song on it. I'd love to hear it in a final produced version. Hopefully this and "Be Sensible" make appearances as B-sides or something.

Man it IS a shame this didn't make the album OR the B-sides, it's without a doubt one of my favorite JEW songs period! Such a great guitar solo as well...I hope this sees the light of day in a more commercial fashion soon. Also, just a small correction to the lyrics. I'm almost certain in the first verse he sings "No one stops a girl who knows what she's got." The "combination of strong and lust" part sounds a bit awkward to me as well, but I really can't figure that part out. But yeah, AWESOME tune...and it seems it's pretty obvious what it's about if you read the lyrics closely enough. But again, it's more about what it means to YOU! Rock on.

ok so i was tweaking with my sounds system a bit and the part "cool hands on your steps" for some reason i hear "cool hands on your slip" love the solo though...first time i heard it, it made me cry cause it was exactly what i needed to express at the mo'...j.e.w. always knows how to do that!

Not gonna lie, this song is great and I am pretty excited that it's going to be on the new album. If the two songs we've heard are an accurate reflection of the whole album, I think Invented is going to be a lot better than Chase this Light

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Cajun Girl

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
