I just want you close
Where you can stay forever
You can be sure
That it will only get better

You and me together
Through the days and nights
I don't worry 'cause
Everything's gonna be alright
People keep talking, they can say what they like
But all I know is everything's gonna be alright

No one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I'm feeling
No one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I feel for you, you, you
Can get in the way of what I feel for you

When the rain is pouring down
And my heart is hurting
You will always be around
This I know for certain

You and me together
Through the days and nights
I don't worry 'cause
Everything's gonna be alright (yes, it will)
People keep talking, they can say what they like
But all I know is everything's gonna be alright

No one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I'm feeling
No one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I feel for you, you, you
Can get in the way of what I feel, say it

I know some people search the world
To find something like what we have
I know people will try, try to divide something so real
So 'til the end of time, I'm telling you there ain't no one

No one, no one
Can get in the way of what I'm feeling
No one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I feel for you

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh (oh), oh (oh), oh (oh), oh (oh), oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh (oh), oh (oh), oh (oh), oh (oh), oh
(No one)
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, ohh)
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh (no one)
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh (oh), oh (oh), oh (oh), oh (oh), oh
Can get in the way, not for a minute, baby
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh (no one)
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh (no one)
Oh, oh, oh, oh (can get in the way of what I feel for you)

Yeah
Thank you

This song is a declaration of love---whether for a lover, family member, or friend is immaterial. It's a testament for someone she loves dearly that the world will change but will not change them and as a result, "everything is going to be all right." She assures that they will not only weather the storms "through the days and nights," but that things will, "only get better," because they have something real and tangible in their unconditional love for each other. Life is always a little kinder when you know that someone is waiting at home for you with a love that you can return to when life gets harsh. This song is nothing short of beautiful. Furthermore, the ache and strength with which she sings adds much depth to the words.

    My Interpretation

I think this song is about a secret love that everybody is against for the both of them maybe because the guy is already taken but they still continue their relationship even though it's forbidden because they knew that they're deeply in love with each other. People keep saying negative thoughts about a forbidden relationship but what people really don't know is how this secret couple truly felt for each other and how they can still manage their relationship even though they knew it's not good for the both of them but what they feel is right.

Hear hear! Her VMA Performance blew me away. Ya know how some artists sound better on their CD's? Well she sounded better live! Actually, her performance was almost exact to how it sounds on the radio. Bravo Alicia, bravo.

i think this song is a love letter for our time now. everyone is so worried about what other people say and think most def when your in a relationship and this is saying that no matter all the talk we will still be together, i love it.

I like this song... as a song (for the musical and melodic qualities). Otherwise I have a problem with it, and I can't listen to it without being extremely annoyed. WHY the HELL is she SCREAMING? She sounds like Keyshia Cole (and BELIEVE me, under no circumstances is that a compliment). This is a joyful, jubilant song, and her sounding like she's on the verge of crying or been crying made me search the lyrics for a sad undertone, and I can't find one. And without one, the screaming is just annoying and unnecessary. She better not sing like that the whole album...

Ministry
Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
