One day laser beams will cure my sight
Negative five, that's pretty much blind,
I wanna see things, you know
Stare so deep into the laptop light
Sip your coffee and stare,
Like you got something to say
But you can't say it cause it just 'aint there anymore
The black premonition flexed in his mind
Conversed with absolute time,
And space
And time and space,
And time and space,
And nothing really matters anymore

You can't say, don't ever say it
It's not tangible, it's not even relevant
A warm hand, a short skirt
A soft blanket, a trusty appliance
A fifty-seven in mathematics and science
An oxygen mask
They stick it and they never come back
Never come back anymore

Are you with me
Or am I wrong?
The silly old songs
Do they mean anything or am I just wrong
Am I just wrong
Am I just wrong
How did I ever get so god damn dumb
A foreign lick from a familiar tongue
It's not one you love, but it's familiar enough
Mouthful of teeth chewed up and spit on the ground
When I speak, I'm all words, just wide naked sound
Carelessly rendered and scattered around
Random, animal
Clumsily stitched together
Forever alien and forever altered
Floating in absolute time and space
And time and space
And time and space and nothing really matters anymore

These lyrics are wrong. It ought to be

"A vague premonition flexing its might"

    And

"When I speak, are my words just wide naked sound"

    Seriously who wrote this?

i think the first stanza is talking about, oh its amazing! laserbeams can cure my sight, but then all you do is sit and stare at your laptop, sip coffee and pretend liek you should have something to say, and that really, you were better off blind and about the black promonition, I believe hes talking about the fate of the world, and nothing really matters anymore

"You can't say, don't ever say it" - if you can't admit you love me, then just don't say it

"It's not tangible, it's not even relevant" - whoever wants to be loved realizes its a just a thought, just a want, and its not releveant, lol "A warm hand, a short skirt" -self explanetory A soft blanket, "a trusty appliance" - penisssss A fifty-seven in mathematics and science - past grades "An oxygen mask They stick it and they never come back Never come back anymore" - this reminds me of people who are put on life support, usually die anyway, but thats just me

Are you with me - I think hes talking to the crowd in some sense Or am I wrong? - and asks if hes wrong about his lyrics, because lyrics mean alot about who writes them The silly old songs - his songs Do they mean anything or am I just wrong - is it just jibberish or what Am I just wrong Am I just wrong

and the rest I don't really have time to define, not liek it matters if i do or not

this song is amazing though I love wintersleeps vocals, its music in itself not just words

I don't personally think he's talking to the audience at this part. It seems like he's talking to someone he cares about but he's not sure if they care about him. It's like he wants to know if the songs are actually about him or if they're just songs and he's over reaching.

It sounds like nihilism to me. Maybe men just want to be silly and goofy like children and they feel completely overwhelmed by all the technology? But they like the technology and think it's cool but it's hard to keep up with it. Maybe they're stressed and they like having that nice short skirt but the girl doesn't really mean that much but they keep her around because it's comfortable to them. Or because they don't want to hurt them? Who knows...

    My Opinion

I think it has to do with the over dependence on technology and the idea that having an "online relationship" could be more comfortable for many people then actually having a face to face interaction.

I get that impression from, my interpretation of, these three lines:

"It's not tangible, it's not even relevant A warm hand, a short skirt A soft blanket, a trusty appliance"

What's not tangible or even relevant is an actual interaction with the person on the other end, and the trusty appliance is the computer. And yet it seems like that they actually know each other and can have intimacy even though they will never actually meet.

THE SONG IS ABOUT A PERSON REALIZING HIS LIFE IS A JOKE HE FEELS HE IS A FAILURE IN ALMOST EVERYTHING: PHYSICALLY (-5 ITS PRETTY MUCH BLIND)

CAREER (57 IN MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE)

RELATIONSHIPS(FOREIGN LICK FROM A FAMILIAR TONGUE, ITS ONE YOU LOVE BUT ITS FAMILIAR ENOUGH) THIS ONE HITS ME IN THE GUT

LONELINESS (OXYGEN MASK, THEY STICK IT AND NEVER COME BACK) AND (I'M ALL WORDS, JUST WIDE NAKED SOUND)

THAT LAST LINE TELLS YOU TO NOT ONLY READ THE LYRICS BUT THE MUSIC ITSELF

AS HE REFLECTS BACK AT EVERYTHING THAT DIDNT WORK OUT HE REALIZES HIS LIFE IS CAREENING DOWN INTO OBLIVION.

THE GUITARS START OUT QUITE SLOW AND STRUCTURED BUT AS IT GOES ON ITS STARTS TO SHOW THE CHAOS WITHIN HIM AND HOW HIS LIFE IS QUICKLY LOSING CONTROL TIL IT REACHES THE END WHERE HE BECOMES ONE WITH THE VOID.

IN THE SILENCE OF DEATH HE FINDS PEACE.

Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.

The Spy
Doors, The
Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
