I think this song is about loneliness... he is empathizing with a woman and how we sometimes go inward with ourselves but to go out and get involved and do something.... that will cure the loneliness and hopelessness of the world.. I was surprised when I first heard this song. I had just read the kybalion (a new agey/esoteric text on Hermetic philosophy) which basically says that the key to enjoyment and success in life is to change your mental vibration to one that is higher.
