its amazing how far music can come.. 24 years after it released and its one of the most heartfelt songs ive heard
She said
"I was seven, and you were nine
I looked at you like the stars that shined
In the sky, the pretty lights"
And our daddies used to joke about the two of us
Growing up and fallin' in love
And our mamas smiled and rolled their eyes
And said, "Oh, my, my, my"
Take me back to the house in the backyard tree
Said you'd beat me up, you were bigger than me
You never did, you never did
Take me back when our world was one block wide
I dared you to kiss me and ran when you tried
Just two kids, you and I
Oh, my, my, my, my
Well, I was sixteen when suddenly
I wasn't that little girl you used to see
But your eyes still shined, like pretty lights
And our daddies used to joke about the two of us
They never believed we'd really fall in love
And our mamas smiled and rolled their eyes
And said, "Oh, my, my, my"
Take me back to the creek beds we turned up
Two AM, ridin' in your truck
And all I need is you next to me
Take me back to the time we had our very first fight
Slammin' of doors 'stead of kissin' goodnight
You stayed outside 'til the morning light
Oh, my, my, my, my
A few years had gone and come around
We were sittin' at our favorite spot in town
And you looked at me, got down on one knee
Take me back to the time when we walked down the aisle
Our whole town came and our mamas cried
You said, "I do," and I did too
Take me home where we met so many years before
We'll rock our babies on the very front porch
After all this time, you and I
And I'll be eighty-seven, you'll be eighty-nine
I'll still look at you like the stars that shine in the sky
Oh, my, my, my
"I was seven, and you were nine
I looked at you like the stars that shined
In the sky, the pretty lights"
And our daddies used to joke about the two of us
Growing up and fallin' in love
And our mamas smiled and rolled their eyes
And said, "Oh, my, my, my"
Take me back to the house in the backyard tree
Said you'd beat me up, you were bigger than me
You never did, you never did
Take me back when our world was one block wide
I dared you to kiss me and ran when you tried
Just two kids, you and I
Oh, my, my, my, my

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Hayalperest
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
Holiday
Bee Gees

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
'SOME TIMES LOVE IS FOREVER'
i agree, my great grand parents meet when they were 13, dated when they were 17 and were married when they were 19, this year would of been their 63rd wedding anniversary but my grandstand mother passed away lase year in June. n my great-grand father is still in love with her and is waiting for his moment to leave and be with her again. so yeah true and real love is FOREVER AND NEVER ENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since I first heard this song, I thought of only one guy. And it's funny because I'm 19 and he's 26, but we've known each other for twelve years. The part where it says "our daddies used to joke about the two of us growing up and falling love and our mamas smiled and rolled their eyes" ... well, it really happened. The two of us lived in different states at the time, but every time one or the other visited, him and I were always together. Always. And after eleven years, he finally asked me out and we've been happily dating for a year, two months, and seven days :) <3 Couldn't be happier, and couldn't ask for a better man :)
couple problems with the words:
"take me back when our world was one big lie," it's supposed to be "take me back when our world was one block wide," (that's one of my favorite lines of the song) and
"take me back to the creek that's reaching dark" is supposed to be "take me back to the creek beds we turned up."
makes more sense, no? :D
and, i think this song is so sweet. my favorite part is "and our daddies used to joke about the two of us, they never believed we'd really fall in love," and for some reason i liked how it says about how their mamas cried at their wedding.
i wonder who mary is.
"Take me back to the time we had our very first fight Slamming a door instead of kissing goodnight" well...when me and the boy i was going out with had our first fight i had just heard this song. it was just like wow. and the next morning he called me really early just to say sorry! and this was just amazing! i thought of this song as my good luck charm...but then like most things...bad things happened and were no longer together...but i still love him more than anything!and well its kinda weird cuz hes a about a year and a half just about 2 years older than me!
ahh. reminds me of me and jake
such a pretty song.
Basically I love this song! There's this kid that I like, and we are two years apart. Ironically enough, he's eighteen and I'm sixteen, so it's totally cute. "And our mommas smiled and rolled their eyes..." I love that part, because that's pretty muc what our parents do. Gosh I love this song!!!
this is such a sweet song i love it i could listen to it over and over for hours and never tire of it
ahh i love this song. it just reminds me that even though sometimes things don't go my way with relationships that there is always something beautiful like this to look forward too.. maybe not so perfect..but someday maybe:)
this song was like my brother and this girl who lived next door to us. He was 9 and she was 7 and they did the craziest things together, ironically they moved on and i heard that the girl is working in a deli near my town. Weird.....LOVE THIS SONG
