A Place For My Head Lyrics

I watch how the
Moon sits in the sky in the dark night
Shining with the light from the sun
And the sun doesn't give light to the moon assuming
The moon's going to owe it one
It makes me think of how you act to me
You do
Favors and then rapidly
You just
Turn around and start asking me about
Things you want back from me
I'm sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you acting like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed
While I find a place to rest

I want to be in another place
I hate when you say you don't understand
(You'll see it's not meant to be)
I want to be in the energy, not with the enemy
A place for my head

Maybe someday I'll be just like you and
Step on people like you do and
Run away the people I thought I knew
I remember back then who you were
You used to be calm used to be strong
Used to be generous but you should've known
That you'd
Wear out your welcome now you see
How quiet it is all alone
I'm so
Sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you acting like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed
While I find a place to rest
I'm so
Sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you acting like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed
While I find a place to rest

I want to be in another place
I hate when you say you don't understand
(You'll see it's not meant to be)
I want to be in the energy, not with the enemy
A place for my head

You try to take the best of me
Go away
You try to take the best of me
Go away
You try to take the best of me
Go away
You try to take the best of me
Go away
You try to take the best of me
Go away
You try to take the best of me
Go away
You try to take the best of me
Go away
You try to take the best of me
Go away

I want to be in another place
I hate when you say you don't understand
(You'll see it's not meant to be)
I want to be in the energy, not with the enemy
A place for my head

Shut up

I'm so sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you acting like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed
While I find a place to rest

I'm so sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you acting like I owe you this
Find another place, to feed your greed
While I find a place to rest

I think it's about someone who tries to take things away from you. They do things for you and always expect something in return. The chorus is stating that the person doesn't understand what you're trying to tell them when you try to explain things to them. "I want to be in the energy, not with the enemy, a place for my head" A place where there is positiveness (if thats a word) not someone bringing you down. A safe place to rest your head. At least, that's what I get from it.

Ok this song is basically about being screwed over, this is how i see it:

I watch how the moon sits in the sky on a dark night, Shining with the light from the sun. But the sun doesn't give the light to the moon assuming, The moon's gonna owe it one. It makes me think about the way you act for me, you do, Favours then rapidly Just turn around then start asking me about, Things that you want back from me.

Here he's thinking back to when he started seeing this girl how at first she was really generous to him and made him feel really good about himself but as time wore on these favours started wearing out and she began to take advantage of him.

I'm sick of the tension, Sick of the hunger, Sick of you acting like I owe you this. Find another place to feed your greed, While I find a place to rest.

Pretty self explanatory, he's fed up of being messed around and feeling like he couldve done more. This girl was demanding, wanted not only his attention but other guys aswell, he tells her to find someone else to take advantage of as he just wants to clear his head.

I want to be in another place, I hate when you say you don't understand. (You'll see it's not meant to be) I want to be in the energy, Not with the enemy, A place for my head.

Here he's saying he just wants to move on and forget about the situation but this girls preventing him from doing so, still trying to keep a hold on him even though she's the one who ended it. He wants to get out, to meet with other people instead of the 'enemy'.

Maybe someday I'll be just like you and, Step on people like you do, And run away from the people I thought I knew. I remember back then who you were, You used to be calm, used to be stong, Used to be generous and you should've known, That, you'd wear out your welcome, And now you see, How quiet it is, all alone.

Here he's showing how angry he is at being 'stepped on', everything seemed under control but she was greedy and wanted more and eventually she'll be the one who ends up all alone.

By the end he realises that she 'tried to take the best of him' and he wont forgive her for it. It's a pretty deep song but something everyone can relate to in a way.

"Ok this song is basically about being screwed" fix'd

I just recently broke up with my girlfriend.....for 2 damn years I tried to prove to her I loved her and she cheated with me for someone else...but there was a time when she wasn't like that she was once a good person but now she stabs her friends in the back and than expects them to bail her out when she is in a jam

Maybe someday I'll be just like you and, Step on people like you do, And run away from the people I thought I knew. I remember back then who you were, You used to be calm, used to be stong, Used to be generous and you should've known, That, you'd wear out your welcome, And now you see, How quiet it is, all alone.

Well it goes on that after I broke up with her she fucked with my mind telling me she still loved me and wanted me back and that she needed me to show that I still loved her... I was stupid than but than I saw what she was turning me in to...she was using me and I was leaving behind the people who truely cared for me....

You, try to take the best of me, go away! You, try to take the best of me, go away! You, try to take the best of me, go away! You, try to take the best of me, go away!

"I watch how the moon sits in the sky on a dark night, Shining with the light from the sun. But the sun doesn't give the light to the moon assuming, The moon's gonna owe it one."

This sounds like it might be based on the quotation by a poet in the 1300s:

Even after all this time, the sun never says to the earth, "You owe me." Look what happens with a love like that. It lights the whole sky. -Hafiz

It might not be relevant to the interpretation of the song, but I thought it was interesting.

Straight forward meaning. Someone is tired of the bullshit he is being put through and wants nothing to do with him, so out of anger, he tells him to get out of his life.

Can I get an Amen, brother...

As someone with experience with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, he's talking about someone with NPD and finally standing up for himself. I've noticed in a lot of Linkin Park's stuff that they talk about being manipulated by a narcissistic person and realizing what's happening when its too late. Songs like "The Little Things Give You Away," "Pushing Me Away," "Numb," "One Step Closer," and even certain parts in "Burn It Down" all have these similar themes. From all of this, I'm guessing someone in the band maybe had a narcissistic parent, like I do, and music is their way of getting all those painful memories out.
