This song is amazing it is referring to the current way of life in America the current banns on free speech which is now a hate crime, and then called a Enemy Combatant to then be put in a terrorist watch list for speaking out. Then 2nd part about the system it reminds me of a couple movies Equilibrium, V for Vendetta, and then the book and movie of 1984 George Orwell they all have a underground safe house to meet this song shows that i think third eye blind has scene the stages of control in this world that is holding us back from or freedom. This is about people betraying their beliefs for peace of mind and safety. I think the title is maybe a reference to Communism. This person believed we should all live equally, but betrayed those beliefs out of fear of the government.

I personally think that this "she" that Stephan's talking about it is America, and I think he's talking about how America's changed and doesn't say what it means for fear of its global repercussions, when it was its outspoken people with the desire to not be tamed that originally won us the freedom to be Americans in the first place. I'm just gonna throw this idea out there. I read some of the lines, but this is just an idea. Maybe possibly the song is about Anti War Protesting and the government taking away rights, and lablein ppl as terrorists.

I think this song is, like many, a political song in disguise. or maybe he is talking about both the US and a girl. possibly a tale about how a boy and a girl spoke out against their government where dissent is illegal and it is about how they are trying to escape the police/FBI/whatever and so it's kind of romantic at the same time? or maybe it is just political lol....
