Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.
This is the world that we live in
I feel myself get tired
This is the world that we live in
Well, maybe I was mistaken
I heard a rumor that you quit this day and age
Well, maybe I was mistaken
Bless your body, bless your soul
Pray for peace and self control
I gotta believe it's worth it
Without a victory I'm so sanctified and free
Well, maybe I'm just mistaken
Lesson learned
And the wheels keep turning
This is the world that we live in
I can't take blame for two
This is the world that we live in
And maybe we'll make it through
Bless your body, bless your soul
Reel me in and cut my throat
Underneath the waterfall
Baby, we're still in this, oh, yeah
This is the world that we live in
I feel myself get tired
This is the world that we live in
I had a dream that I was falling down
There's no next time, alone
A storm wastes its water on me
But my life was free
I guess it's the world that we live in
It's not too late for that
This is the world that we live in
And no, we can't go back
This is the world that we live in
I still want something real
This is the world that we live in
I know that we can heal over time
This is the world that we live in
This is the world that we live in
I feel myself get tired
This is the world that we live in
Well, maybe I was mistaken
I heard a rumor that you quit this day and age
Well, maybe I was mistaken
Bless your body, bless your soul
Pray for peace and self control
I gotta believe it's worth it
Without a victory I'm so sanctified and free
Well, maybe I'm just mistaken

Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.
Techno Ted
Audioslave
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.
Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
Holiday
Bee Gees
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
This is in regards to Vivalavida's comment "This isn't the killers we know of This isn't the "this river is wild " Killers this isn't the mr brightside killers I beg The killers to come back strong with their next album."
You're right. It's not "This River Is Wild" or "Mr. Brightside". But really, have you even heard anything else they've done? If you follow The Killers and truly love them as a band, as do I, then you will love this album in its entirety for being something that has set The Killers above the rest of mainstream rock. Every song they have done is something different than you've ever heard from any other rock band. But they still rock. And you want to know why? They're innovative unlike, dare I say it, Coldplay whose albums tend to run together. Every album The Killers have done has a different feel to it.
If you actually listened to their songs other than their radio singles, you would see that this song, as well as this whole album, is The Killers. It is just as much of who they are as the rest of their albums.
Coldplay are SO BORING. All of their songs sound exactly the same, apart from Yellow and Viva la Vida, its all crap. The Killers are amazing because they're different and not repetitive! I completely agree with you!
Hey! Both The Killers and Coldplay are excellent bands! And if you look into Coldplay (beyond the singles) you'll see they're are not as repetitive as they seem. This is comming from someone who used to dislike Coldplay.

And why are going around saying that Vivalavida hasn't heard any other Killers songs besides This River is Wild. Ovbiously he/she has. This River is wild isn't one of their famous songs, so if she/he only knew one or two, it wouldn't be This River Is Wild. Second, she/he would barely be able to tell the difference in between the first two albums and Day and Age if she/he only had a few reference songs.

I'm not saying I agree with vivalavida (I prefer Sam's Town over Day and Age), but I don't think saying that Coldplay sucks is the best way to disagree
Instead of "I know that we can YIELD over time" I think it is "I know that we can HEAL over time"...
But English is not my native language... But it'd make a lot more of sense.
For me, at least.
(:
haha it isn't that bad i just heard this playing in mcdonald's the other day though...
Another awesome song by the Killers. :)
Personally, I love this song! It reminds me a lot of a song Paul McCartney would write.
Also, who cares if albums don't sound the same? Bands have the right to change their sound or go where they feel is creatively right for their band. I don't know about you, but if artists released the same sort of album three or four times I would definitely get bored and stop listening. I have been listening to The Killers from the beginning (and I'm not talking about just listening to singles on the radio). I really admire a band that can take a different direction and still produce an incredible album.
Changing their sound is a good thing! We won't get bored of them!
I love this song. I think it's the best on the new album. I came to check out the lyrics and I'm surprised that people would prefer The River is Wild over this song. The River is Wild is horrible. This album is so much more solid that Sams Town. After Sams Town I decided to give up on The Killers, but I'm lucky I came across this album used. Album is great. This song is amazing.
This river is wild is an awesome song. This song, however, is not particularly oustanding and may be the weakest on the album. Spaceman, Neon Tiger, I Can't Stay and Dustland Fairytale (to name a few) are easily better.
this river is wild is amazing
It's THIS River is Wild. Just fyi.
lumina needs to chill with the CAPS man, but yeah, I've never heard a song by the killers that is crap, love it all, they never cease to amaze me and they always come up with something beautiful :D

god bless them :D
I agree with everything except what you said about This River is Wild. But I guess everyone's ears work differently
Ok to everyone who said we can't admit our favourite band made a mistake... I can. With Sawdust,Not my favourite album, not half as good. Yes,Day and Age is different but every album of theirs has been. Sam's Town is my fave probably followed by Hot Fuss or Day and Age and then Battle Born. Sawdust was a mistake. Not Day And Age
I liked Sawdust!
I love this one.
I can always connect there songs to my own life.
I don't get why people are upset with the album I love it. I personally prefer Sam's Town but this is still a wonderful album, especially this song.
i totally agree, i love all of the killers XD
