Syndicate Lyrics

Halfway around the world
Lies the one thing that you want
Buried in the ground
Hundred miles down
The first thing that arises in your mind when you awake
Is bending you till you break let me hold you now

Baby close your eyes don't open till the morning light
Baby don't forget we haven't lost at all yet

Don't know what you're made of till the one thing that you want
Is coming with the dawn and suddenly changes
Monday's syndicate means everyone's the same
And all we've lost to the flame listen to me now

Baby close your eyes don't open till the morning light
Don't ever forget we haven't lost at all yet
All we know for sure is all that we are fighting for
Baby don't forget we haven't lost at all yet

Someday when this is over
We may still have no answer
For now is when I hold her
We are closer
We are closer
We are closer
We are closer

Baby close your eyes don't open till the morning light
Don't ever forget we haven't lost at all yet
And though we know for sure is all that we are fighting for
Baby don't forget we haven't lost at all yet

We are closer
We are closer
Now we are closer
We are closer

This song is playing on their website right now, thefray.net it sounds great.

I'm a little puzzled as to the meaning of the "syndicate"... Monday's syndicate means everyone's the same...

Syndicate: a group of individuals or organizations combined or making a joint effort to undertake some specific duty or carry out specific transactions or negotiations

Maybe it means that together they're gonna work together to fix the problem in their relationship. Both of them are equal, both of them have the same responsibility to the relationship, each other, and themselves. I don't know, what does else could it mean?

great fucking opening to the album.

well to me it actaully kinda sounds like the war.... i dont think "she" is referring to a girl, its more like america... maybe...

"Halfway around the world Lies the one thing that you want Buried in the ground Hundreds of miles down" is obviously oil

from there i'm not completely sure, but i'm pretty sure its not about a long distance relationship. a lot of the fray's songs are much deeper than they first appear, and i don't think this is any different. "say when" is also about war.....

we are closer, we haven't lost it all yet.

@jeniusAlways Whoa. That makes sense. The other argument that people are making of hundreds of miles down referring to a lover is irrational

I'm going with the war being the meaning of this song. I agree that the part about half across the world underground being about oil being key. Also, Monday Syndicate is likely a reference to the newspaper...syndication is what they call different stories being shared across the market. i just see this vision of a politician or business man caught up in the game of money and power and then the view changes to losing a life in the war and it all hits home. There is an undercurrent of hope, that it's not too late to change our hearts and our actions, and that there is comfort and inspiration in each other until then.

His love were talked about how they will never make it a weekly discussion on how its not ment to be and the Singer and his love believed it.Baby close your eyes.Repeats himself as to say all that doesn't matter its in the past close your eyes and go to sleep I still love you.All we know for sure is All that we been fighting for. They been praying fighting their mind and hoping the love they still feel is real praying to God they can be together again and love each other forever.Baby dont forget we haven't lost it all yet.He says to her dont give up hope you still have my love and I still have yours keep fighting the good fight and praying we will unite.Someday when this is over we may still have no answer for now is when I hold her we are closer. Two things that are different the Singer is manifesting ,they both have in commonThe future so the Singer is thinking the two things that manifest into one we dont know what the future holds but they know even if their old and gray they have each other or dont they will still have no answer why did this happen? And if they dont have each other they'll have two why did this happen and did they ever love me or still do.As for now when I hold her we are closer .He's saying when he holds his girlfriend or wife he will imagen its her and in that way they can be closer and maybe she can feel it thinking when he feels her inside him will be the samething. While all this is happening the singers is laying in bed being either awoken from a dream or just a pure feeling that she's thinking about him and want to be with him again so he's explaining all this to her mental and towards the end we get back to telling her everything is going to be alright he's holding her mentally comforting her so she can get some sleep tells her he still loves her and at the end he tells her he feels closer to her and being with her again <3

Oooh, just wait, I found this: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/music/news/e3i728e28adf80ba3aaea2254e658ba2cf0

NEW YORK -- The Fray has unveiled the track list for its self-titled sophomore album, arriving Feb. 3 from Epic. Lead single "You Found Me" has already sold 278,000 copies in three weeks of U.S. digital release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

That track stemmed from crises among friends and family that prompted singer Isaac Slade to confront the age-old question of why bad things happen to good people. Another song, "Enough for Now," tackles the fallout from the death of Slade's grandfather.

The sound of "The Fray" -- produced like the debut by Epic vp A&R Mike Flynn and Aaron Johnson -- is "a little more extreme than the last record," Slade tells Billboard. "The quieter stuff is a little quieter than our last record and the rock stuff is a little rockier. It definitely spreads the spectrum a little bit."

The new album will be previewed with a handful of club dates early next year, beginning Jan. 6 in the Fray's Denver hometown and wrapping Feb. 4 in New York. The latter show will be cybercast on the band's Web site.

The Fray is also playing a free outdoor show Wednesday in Los Angeles as part of "Jimmy Kimmel Live." An extensive North American tour is likely to begin in June.

The new album is the follow-up to 2005's "How To Save a Life," which has sold 2.34 million copies in the U.S.

Here is the track list for "The Fray":

"Syndicate" "Absolute" "You Found Me" "Say When" "Never Say Never" "Where the Story Ends" "Enough for Now" "Ungodly Hour" "We Build Then We Break" "Happiness"

I think it's about a couple going through a tough time, comforting each other, holding on to each other's love.
