What She Came For Lyrics

I've got a question for ya
I've got a question for ya
Where'd you get your name from?
Where'd you get your name from?
I've got a question for ya
Where do you see yourself in five minutes time?

With a life like that or a look like that
You make us all feel gauche
Like it's a smutty joke
But with a life like that or a root like that
You make us all just go la la la la

Woah, look out
You're what she came for
You're what she came for
No question, no doubt
Woah, look out
You're what she came for
Knows what she came for
No question, no doubt

Woah
You're what she came for

I've got a question for ya
Another question for ya
Oh do you feel the, oh do you feel the pressure
Why you wearing what you're wearing?
Where will your life be gone in five minutes time?

So say something stupid
You know that you'd love to

Woah, look out
You're what she came for
You're what she came for
No question, no doubt
Woah, look out
You're what she came for
Knows what she came for
No question, no doubt

You're what she came for
You're what she came for
You're what she came for

The way he snarls some of the lines (like "Oh do you feel the, oh do you feel the pressure") is fantastic.

Surely it's 'with a laugh like that or a look like that' for both lines in the bridge bit? I dunno about you, but I don't often bring my root vegetables to the bar... :P

IMO: This song is about a girl, dressed to kill, coming for the one she wants. I envision some femme fatale stalking into a smoky bar where she sets her sights on some guy and everyone there realizes that she's there for one reason: Him.

My Interpretation

I'm pretty sure it's "you make us all feel gauche".

Ahh, I thought it was, but wasn't sure how to spell it. Thanks.

@savinbalix I agree completely, only I think the song is more from his internal voice than the thoughts of the people around him. He realizes shes out for him and his voice is that little voice of doubt trying to mess him up because the pressure's on.

Next to "No You Girls" this is my favorite song on the album.

My Opinion

this song is great. i love how he's telling a story about some things that really going on in our mind when we see some hot girls or guys that make us go lalalaa. =)

"So say something stupid You know that you love to"

Here lies the meaning of the song. It's about say stupid stuff that sounds cool and frees your mind, like Franz Ferdinand do all along this song (and many others). And ofc, is there's hot girls, parties and drinks in the mix, it's total heaven!

@BrokenDick No, this song is part of a concept record, lyrically. This part relates to the preceding line "Where will your life be gone in five minutes' time?" Like, when you say something stupid now, you'll remain single. It's about fear of commitment. That's what the whole album is all about. The bachelor's life vs. being in a relationship. And the on-again, off-again dynamic.
