Where The Story Ends Lyrics

Trying not to lose my head but I have never been this scared before
Tell you what I’ll do instead, lay my body down on the floor
To forget what I’ve done, silhouette til the good lord come
All we know is distance
We’re close and then we run
Kiss away the difference
I know you hate this one
Trying not to lose your own, boxing up everything, you’ve got
All you ever knew of home, you’re scared scared to see
Your mother there in the door, you wonder where did the years go
All we know is distance
We’re close and then we run
Kiss away the difference
I know you hate this one
But this is how the story ends
Or have we just begun
To kiss away the difference
I know you hate this one
The violins make no sound
And I begin to feel the ground
All we know is distance
We’re close and then we run
Kiss away the difference
I know you hate this one
But this is where the story ends
Or have we just begun
To kiss away the difference
I know you hate this one

I think the first half of the song is pretty cut and dry. I think its about people in realtionships not wanting to become attached of open themselves up to getting hurt. But I also think it is about losing your individualism, about a person afraid of becoming a couple rather then two people together. I say that because of where it talks about, "Trying not to lose your own, boxing up everything, youve got All you ever knew of home, youre scared scared to see". I think form halfway down things get a little more where personal interprataions take place. The just knowing distance part is about people that want eachother but cant make it work, they love each other but something is always wrong. Their close at times, but when things get hard they seperate and run their own ways. "Kiss away the difference, I know you hate this one", I think it is about, one of them trying to make everything better by saying Im sorry or kissing you to show that their alright, even if you dont feel the same. "this is how the story ends", means that this is the end and the process restarts.

I think the last set of lines is the most powerful. "Violins make no sound", that is just odd, and I think thats what its meant to be. It just not what you'd expect. "I begin to feel the ground", I think this is saying how he isnt in the clouds any longer, when he/she is forced to facce life with out the other cause they didnt see everything falling about, it just wasnt expected. (I think that line and the one about the violins are linked). "Is this how the story ends, or have we just begun", I think this is about one of them wondering if the other will come back or are stuck to face new begins with alone or with another love.

i think this entire song revolves around people who begin to fall in love, then are too scared to get attach/become vulnerable. it has to do with their past and their lack of trust for others.

"Your mother there in the door, you wonder where did the years go All we know is distance We’re close and then we run Kiss away the difference"

the mother ran away from him. so all he knows to do is keep his distance. just run away when things become real.

can relate.

Isaac talked about this song.. It's about how he was "freaking out" before his gf (now his wife) left home to move in with him.

While i can certainly see how this could be about relatable hardhops between a long distance couple, i prefer to see it from a different perspective.

To me, this song is about a man & a woman, & the incapapability, so far, to close the gap in their relationship. "We're close, and then we run. Kiss away the difference. I know you hate this one, but this is how the story ends, or have we just begun to kiss away the difference?" - To me, that represents a constant divide in their relationship. And each time they face that issue, they have to choose whether to face it head on, or just give up on themselves entirely. So far, they have not been able to face it. But that one line "or have we just begun to kiss away the differnce" represents the hope that the immensity of their love is strong enough, and that they will soon be able to close that gap. I think the message of the song is universal and can be applied to any type of issue/gap in your relationship, but the one pictured here is perhaps a long distance relationship. "Scared to see your mother there in the dark" shows that the girl may have finally come to terms and decided to close the gap between her man, but she's scared to see that reminder there (her mother) as another reason to run from herself again.

sorry it's so long, i tend to babble(: let me know if you agree.

I think this is about trying to make a long distance relationship work, but all they get is a few minutes and then they have to run again, and they try to make it work (kiss away the difference) but every time they are left wondering if "this is where the story ends".

actually, i dont think its about relationships really. just friends in general. it says "All you ever knew of home, you’re scared scared to see your mother there in the door, you wonder where did the years go" so hes leaving home finally and he is sad because whenever you leave a place you always wonder if this is where the story ends. so its just about how people always have to keep moving on even if they dont want to. ot they get close to something but because of time, they have to leave it behind and maybe never...

At the very end of the song there are these lyrics:

Extra lyrics at the END of the song:

Listen til he's twenty Lasts til twenty one Rushin past the window Like he's watching his own son Sixty years of sorrow Brought five to six of bliss Left my mothers mother Without so much as a kiss.

Makes me think something with someones parents?????

How are you so sure?

I think it says something more along the lines of "this century he's twenty"... I know it doesn't seem to make much sense, but watching the Fair Fight documentary, I've seen how they had to change the lyrics a lot from the originals, especially with this song. So this is probably a piece of a version of the song that they loved and wanted to include even if it didn't land the song it was made for. So it'd make sense if it would say "century" or something, since the line in "Where The Story Ends"...
