It Don't Move Me Lyrics

Please put just the books and magazines away
cause they don't move no more
they don't move me no more
put them all away
forget photos and letters, all people that matter
they don't move me no more
you don't move me no more
and you're no longer mine

it's surprisin' how rapidly
we were changing from you and me
no matter how you count, no no
it will go to show

when history is done
and everything is over
just to keep us warm
it's slowly getting colder
there's nothing to explain
it's hard to stay the same
history is done
and everything is gone

early morning and late night, going over the same fight
don't move me no more
you don't move me no more
and i don't even mind
all these things that i keep when i cared too deep
gonna put it to sleep
i can run much faster
when nothing weighs me down

you can change what has been before
it's erasing you can't restore
let the scraping back go, go
i don't want it back

when history is done
and everything is over
just to keep us warm
it's slowly getting colder
there's nothing to explain
it's hard to stay the same
history is done
and everything is gone
everything is gone
everything is gone

First off, a few of the lyrics are wrong, including the the first line, which should be : "Please put Chastity's books and magazines away," Then, even though it makes less sense, the second stanza following the chorus is: "All these things that I keep without caring too deep..." Lastly, the final stanza before the second chorus should read: "You can't change what it's been before; it's erased and you can't restore; let the screen fade black... go, go; I don't want it back."

So it's obvious this song is about a breakup, but based on it's tone and the lyrics I don't think it represents depression so much as it illustrates disinterest and apathy. It seems to tell the story of a couple who's relationship has ran it's natural course and a revelation that if things aren't working out and two people don't care for one another they should just move on. In any event it's a great song and it makes me want to dance awesomely. Peter, Bjorn & John are great songwriters, and every album they've released so far has been outstanding' there are 5 so far with a 6th on the way, so check them out if you haven't already.

This song actually made me cry. To me, it is (like 90% of there songs) about a relationship. This one obviously being one that ended. I feel like they are depressed especially when they say "all the people that matter, the don't move me no more".

It is honestly very chilling, nothing seems to matter to them. Nothing moves them and how terrible that is. My very favorite band.

You got it spot on kylie...

dope filled song. i think it's about a relationship that has come to a very ugly end and the two involved no longer care for eachother or anybody/anything anymore. "you don't move me no more" nuff said :)

these guys never disapoint

I feel like this is about not caring if the world is ending. I feel like they're saying, "So what if the world ends? It don't move me anyway!"

I think the chorus goes:

"What used to keep us warm Is slowly getting colder"

It makes more sense that way, anyway.

I agree with those who say it's about a bitter breakup. The key line is: "You don't move me no more...and I don't even mind." No regrets, no nostalgia, no fondness.
