Same Song and Dance Lyrics

(INTRO)
Yo
Same song and dance
Damn girl everywhere I go
Same song and dance
I like the way you move all over the globe
Same song and dance
There's something about it man
Same song and dance
In the pale moonlight

(VERSE ONE)

I'm looking at you yeah girl you're kinda tooken back by
The whole rapper thing aren't ya?
Probably think you'll get slapped so damn hard ya
Wont even be able stand up straight aren't ya?
A couple rape charges people think you're a monster
The police constantly buggin you non-stop
I walk up on you, well hello tonya!
I think you got your OnStar button inside your car stuck
You outta gas, do you got a flat?
I would hate for you to be stranded at the laundromat
I got your back, why dont you put your laundry basket in the back?
And sit up front, im not asking, its a trap
You just got jacked and bodysnatched and it's a wrap
In broad day - no masks for this attack
I heard them say exact opposites attract
If that's fact it'll take taskforce to get you back

(HOOK)
Yeah baby do that dance
It's the last dance you'll ever get the chance to do
Girl shake that ass
You ain't ever gonna break that glass, the windshield's too strong for you
I said yeah baby sing that song
It's the last song you'll ever get the chance to sing
You sexy little thing
Show me what you got, give it your all, look at you ball, why you crying to me?
Same song and dance.

(VERSE TWO)
The first victim I had, she was a big one
Big movie star, party girl, big fun
She was the girl the media always picked on
In and out of rehab every 4-6 months
She was always known for little pranks and slick stunts
On nickelodeon flashed to little kids once
What an event it was, I was sitting in front
I was hooked in at the first glimpse of them buns
Seen her backstage, now here's where I come in son
Look her she comes i'd better put out the big guns
"hello lindsay you're looking a little thin, hun'
How about a ride to rehab? get in cunt!
Starting off on the wrong foot is what I didn't want
Girl im just kidding let me start over again, hun
See what I meant was we should have a little intervention
Come with me to brighton, let me relieve your tension
You little wencher, murder wasn't my intention
If I wanted to kill you it would have already been done
Slowly she gets in and I begin to lynch her with 66 inches of extension chord

(VERSE THREE)
My second victim was even bigger than the first
Pop star, icon, the whole works
She played a little schoolgirl when she first
Burst upon the scene and seen the world was hers
She twirls and turns and flirts and skirts so bad it hurts
It irked me and made me mad at first
I lashed out in my songs
But what was really going on was that I had developed a crush, I just didn't know how to tell it to her
Should I cut off one of my ears and mail it to her?
Send her pictures of my collections of skeletons or
Footage of me impaling myself on an elephant's tusk?
We'll settle this once and for all, ima tell her at dusk
Tonight, tonight its the night, and tell her I must
Creep upto her mansion in stilhettos and just
Climb the gate and ring the bell, like "hello my love"
I just picked your prescription for ceriquill up
Now would you like to share a pill or two with me?
I'll share my valium with you cos im feeling you britney
I'll trade you a blue one for a pink one ever since at schoolgirl juvenile delinquent
I've been feeling you ooh ooh girl you sexy little girl
You hold that pill any longer it'll get sentimental value
Come on toots give me the valium, i'll slamdunk it in your mouth till you puke
And just as soon as you pass out in your alphabet soup
Im about to make a new outfit outta you
A new outfit? shit i'll make a new suit outta your shoe
Now show me how you move girl, do how you do

He's not talking about literally raping girls you gotta look deeper than that. I'm pretty sure he's comparing the cons of fame to a rapist.

Think about it, he starts out talking about Tanya who as far as we know isn't a celebrity, just a girl who's life was cruelly taken by a kidnapper and possibly raped. Then he talks about Lindsey Lohan and Britney Spears; both female and both had literally had their lives destroyed by selfish paparazzi and the steep price of fame. He acts like he's the sick rapist who ruins them but actually he's comparing himself (the sick rapist) to fame and what it does to young girls. Britney seemed to go crazy and shave her hair off while attacking paparrazi with an umbrella while lindsay is in and out of rehab and always in the public eye which isnt helping much

That's why the song is called "Same song and Dance." That's why at the end he says "Same kicking and screaming, same begging and pleading, same song and dance." :)

Song Meaning

i was confused about mentioning celebrities with Tanya, but this def makes sense. The type of thing eminem would speak on.

About raping girls, obviously.

Sick azz flow in this one.

it’s a message to women about the crazy men they will attract if they don’t respect themselves. In this rap, Eminem is playing a serial killer/rapist/womanizer who keeps telling girls to “do that dance and shake that ass” because “it’s the last dance you’ll ever do.” Translation: keep acting like a whore and you’ll be treated like one. More importantly, they’ll be raped.

Here’s a line that really stuck out for me.

“You aint never gonna break that glass, the windshield’s too strong for you.” Apparently a lot of girls think...

this song has creepy over tones. i don't know who tonya is but am curious. lindsay and britney are subjects of this song as well as the track after it, we made you. "girl shake your ass" is a reference to the song just lose it. i am glad he alludes to the marshall mathers lp, "It irked me and made me mad at first/I lashed out in my songs/But what was really going on was that I had developed a crush, I just didn't know how to tell it to her." i thought it was a big change from saying "what is this bitch retarded" about britney in 2000 to now making 2 songs about having a crush on her and how she should be with him. i'm not sure how serious he is about his "feelings" for britney spears. first time i heard this i thought he was finally murdering celebrities on the track

My favorite song on the CD, I think.

Eminem's an odd case, for me. I can't say I really LIKE his lyrics, or nod my head saying "yeah, that's so true," like I do with most music I listen to and love lyrically, least of all in a song like this, haha. Rather, I find I like Eminem more in the way that I APPRECIATE his lyrics, and how much skill goes into it, and this song's a prime example of that. I almost approach him in a scholarly kind of way, I study his lyrical style, his rhyme patterns, and try to figure out how he comes up with half of this stuff, it's just crazy (in more ways than one).

I can't say I like the lyrics or relate to raping celebrities, but in this song, the last verse particularly, just has my head spinning and asking myself how the crap he did that. The way he manages to rhyme words you would never think sound the same is just crazy, I don't know how he does it. No one can quite do what Em does quite the way he does it.

I'm just glad Eminem's back on form after the dreadful outing that was Encore, yuck.

I think it's about addiction. It gets you when you're vulnerable and you don't really think you have anyone to turn to. Then you're trapped with it. Maybe leading to suicide?

The rapist thing I think is just playing from the drugs point of view and it has them doing all kind of crazy things.

Is it just me or is the verse where he mentions "Lindsay" about Britney an the verse h mentions Britney about Lindsay because Lindsay Lohan doesn't have kids and Britney wasn't a school girl, that was Lindsay

No man. He's referring to a Nickelodean awards show where Lindsay flashed the little kids. I don't know if that's true or not but he isn't talking about Lindsay's little kids because as you said, she doesn't have any. And Britney WAS a school girl in her very first solo video out as an artist in "Baby, One More Time."

i think this is about the sexualisation of younger and younger girls in the media being responsible for increasing numbers of rapists and paedophiles etc, but told from the confused point of view of said offender.

Maybe he's talking about Tonya Harding? I agree with hunybunbunny's comparison of fame to murder by rape. He talks about Tonya's rape charges? Her counterpart on the attack of Nancy Kerrigan is another way that compulsion can turn you toxic. So maybe her involvement in that is eminem's reference to rape.
