I believe the meaning of the song that the guys are expressing is that they have been trying to impress a woman with money, and seeing as it doesn't work- they can't afford to anymore- they feel like becoming a supernova: in other words, doing something so bold/stupid/attention-getting that the woman they are after can't help but turn her head, even if this means the end of the man himself.

This song is amazing! I love it so much! Kanye's bit is the best.
I think this song is the BEST in the top 100 right now. The Killers are there with Human and they are my favourite band but this song is LITERALLY beautiful. I have it playing on my iPod right now, repeating.
But I believe the song is about a guy (Mr. Hudson& Kayne - they are the same person) who sort of fancies a girl (the one he's singing about) and is thinking about an ex (the one who 'has all the things they thought they wanted') who has everything but he wants to move on and champion this girl of his childhood dreams whom he still fancies, a little - or so he likes her to believe. She has slumped into a depressive state as Kayne's and Mr. Hudson's ex has married her ex. So the guy's want to save their childhood sweetheart from the 'biggest mistake' of her life (suicide). But she thinks there is nothing left. But they say no, she's got it wrong and they want to be her supernova and take her with them.
So. The Chorus means that he wanted to leave anyway (i feel like taking off) but he wants to take her too (lemme be your supernova) before she commits suicide (the biggest mistake of her) let him give it a go with her (gimme a chance to get it right.)The first verse is about Mr. Hudson reminscing about an ex (the ex that has married the ex of the girl too.) and that they now have it 'all'. (everything he thought he wanted.) Then at the end he's talking about the girl trying to bed him but really she is trying to make up for what she's missing from her ex and not the relationship she once had with Hudson.) Then Kayne is still talking about that elationson (with the trust-fund saved, house by the shore, etc.) and by the end is trying to convince the girl it's not her or him so he want's to see her running back to him. Then it ends in chorus and Mr. Hudson behind it all telling her she's wrong to think there love is gone for good.
