I thought that line was "I'll be a lie"... makes more sense to me...?

My favourite off the whole album, I could listen to this on repeat. She knows that even though he's her first love, there's no point in it any more because he'll never give her what she wants so she has to end it. Her voice is gorgeous. xxx

Obvious meaning here. Breaking up with your first love because you just don't feel it anymore, and need to be with other people to understand what love is again. Almost feeling like you might be missing the point you've just been with this one person for so long, and you feel close to him but just...it's not exciting. Despite this, you still doubt yourself a bit and don't want to upset him. I really like the background, what is that, a xylophone or something? It has a real childhood feel to it.

This song just sums up perfectly how relationships often end up. It's lyrics like this that make me remember why music is my first love :)

The tone of this song is soooo perfect! I went through the same thing... It's hard to stay in a relationship when you feel like there is nothing left, regardless how much you love the person, you're just not in love with the person anymore. She doesn't want to hurt him but it's the only thing she can do. Why drag it on further when it's not going anywhere? She wants to stay but doesn't want to drag this on any further because she knows it will only hurt him more in the end. It's one of those things where you wished you felt differently for someone but you know really cant. She's being true to herself and doing what's best regardless how much it hurts her to do this... The background music and her voice is what makes this song so perfect! She lays it all out on how she feels about this person but in the most gentle, straight forward way possible...it's like you can hear the sorrow in her voice for breaking someone's heart...

I think its more about you have a first love, but even after years go by, you still have that same fresh feeling, and she doesn't want to! so she's saying " forgive me first love" because she still loves you, she just needs to see what else is out there for her. but the first love will always have that affect on her...it speaks my life LOL.

I just broke up with my boyfriend this afternoon. This song is such a parallel to how I feel, I'm afraid to post it. I love it however, it narrarates exactly how I feel with soul and a tender appreciation for one's first love.

This song shows that sometimes relationships don't end because of any other reason but boredom and the knowing that deep down you guys don't excite each other anymore and it's time to move on.
