Load up on guns
Bring your friends
Its fun to lose
And to pretend
Shes overboard
Myself assured
I know I know
A dirty word

Hello (x 16)

With the lights out its less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
Yea

Im worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end

Hello (x 16)

With the lights out its less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us

I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
Yea

And I forget
Just what it takes
And yet I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard
Its hard to find
Oh well, whatever, nevermind

Hello (x 16)

With the lights out its less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
Yea

I don't agree. Lacey sings it the way it's supposed to be sung. Like she's high and fucked up. It's how Kurt wanted it to be preformed, do you think the dead guy gives a fuck? Seriously stop getting all Nirvanarulezdaworld noobish. Yeah Kurt does it the best but for fucks sake Lacey tried and hey it's not perfect but get your heads out your arses and realiase it wasn't supposed to be perfect, Kurt fought his whole life to not be perfect. So it's fucked up and it could be better but hey i think its great.

Actually one of the better covers of the song I've heard - especially given it's a female singer.

Who says Flyleaf had to make it sound like Nirvana's version? They're adding their own style to the song and that's what makes them original.

I love Flyleaf, but to be totally honest I think they could have done better.

to whoever said her voice sounds scratchy, she purposly did that. in case you didnt get it the song is supposed to be sung in this partyish careless and im really high so i dont know what im singing style.(the im sorry im bad song for example, also sang in this type of style) it was intended to sound kinda messed up. i really hate when people are so naive to this kind of stuff. and besides that, do some research before you say anything about her voice. u cant say that she has a scratchy voice cuz you heard her sing this song like that. she sings other songs in a beautiful clear voice. making the scratchy high sounding voice prolly takes a lot more work than singing in her original voice. so please check your own voice and see how long your throat would last singing the way she does in this song, before you say anything about it. its harder than it looks. same as scremo music. i dont even like screamo that much, but you gotta understand, that its not just a bunch of screaming, its a ton of work. try screaming like that for a min straight and youll see what i mean.(even though scremo does freak me out a bit and doesnt even sound normal and human to me, i still undertsnd that its hard and its a specific style.)be more open minded!!!!

"flyleaf are shit" excellent grammar sammy.

Anywho I love flyleaf, seriously, but I can admit this cover sucks. AND I think you all should know that the actual band think it sucks as well, They're not happy with it, they didn't really want to do it, and they were more or less forced by the label to cover it.

So relax and let up on the insults, or I'll have to give you a virtual backhand to the face. :)

    My Opinion

See, I'm a Nirvana fan and I love Flyleaf too... So I'd say that this cover should not be judged keeping in mind the original. I mean, obviously, the song itself has to be kept in mind. But you have to understand that Lacey can't do the song like Kurt did. This cover is like her interpretation of the song. Admittedly, it's different... But, what on earth, isn't that the point? They covered it because they wanted it to be Flyleaf's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'.... Nirvana is a legend and they rocked. All I say is, it's unfair to compare this cover with the original. it's just so.... DIFFERENT!

I don't like flyleaf as it is I can't stand her voice she needs some vocal lessons but when I found out she did a remix on Nirvanas song smells like teen spirit I was so pissed. Her scratchy screeching voice just ruined that song ang if Kurt Cobain was alive he would be embarrased she needs to not ever have a remix of any awesome songs.........I don't even see how she is still around she sounds horrible like nails on a chalkboard!!!!!!!!!

This song is def a twin to "Unfair" (a song she has been quoted as saying is about falling in love with someone who is already in a relationship) so it is presumably about the same person. Given the references to buying an apartment and not being able to see her love interest "after tonight," it's most likely that she's moving away and she'll "wait a day to break the bad news" (i.e. notifying him that she's leaving once she's already gone). And, of course, the fact that she sees in him a fellow "idealist" and "dreamer" (terms commonly given to people with the INFP personality on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)) portends that she'll always be left wondering if they would've been perfect together.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
