This one's for the lonely
The one's that seek and find
Only to be let down
Time after time

This one's for the torn down
The experts at the fall
Come on friends get up now
You're not alone at all

And this part was for her
And this part was for her
This part was for her
Does she remember?

It comes and goes and waves
I

This one's for the faithless
The ones that are surprised
They're only where they are now
Regardless of their fight

This one's for believing
If only for it's sake
Come on friends get up now
Love is to be made

And this part was for her
And this part was for her
This part was for her
Does she remember?

It comes and goes in waves
I,
Am only led to wonder why
It comes in goes in waves
I,
Am only led to wonder why
Why I try

This is for the ones who stand
For the ones who try again
For the ones who need a hand
For the ones that think they can

It comes in waves
I,
Am only led to wonder why
It comes and goes in waves
I,
Am only led to wonder why
Why I try

he's right, though. it comes and goes and waves when you are trying to get over someone. sometimes they are little ripples on your feet, little reminders that this was a part of your life. other times the waves are so strong that the tide takes you in, and you sink from all the memories, taking all of your energy.

    such a great song.

    My Interpretation

Please. Please. Please. Not all songs are about love and relationships.

As a wallflower, I relate to this song deeply, and no there's nothing about losing love here.

This one's for the lonely The one's that seek and find Only to be let down Time after time

I was hooked with the first line. Every wallflower isn't a wallflower by choice. We just can't deal with the bullshit fakeness going around. We seeked sanity, we seeked friendship that was not valued by cliches and materials, only to be broken hearted and disappointed with people time after time, going back into our solitary cell. The prison of our own device.

This one's for the torn down The experts at the fall Come on friends get up now You're not alone at all

Greg relates to himself, he tells us we're not alone. There are introverts like us around the world, we just have to find them.

And this part was for her And this part was for her This part was for her Does she remember?

He wrote this song for someone like us. Does that person remember? Or did she lose her hope in humanity and lock herself forever? It's more like he is talking to himself. Hoping she remembers that she's not alone. Hoping she didn't leave forever.

It comes and goes and waves

The sorrow, the disappointment comes and goes. Sometimes we are happy to be left alone. But then we try to find ... try to have some faith...

This one's for the faithless The ones that are surprised They're only where they are now Regardless of their fight

This one's for believing If only for it's sake Come on friends get up now Love is to be made

This part is for the people who have already lost their faith in humanity. Already locked themselves... He says, get up now; don't lose faith so soon. There are people. Real people. Waiting for you

This is for the ones who stand For the ones who try again For the ones who need a hand For the ones that think they can

Look beyond yourself; there are plenty of people fighting their demons. Depression, take a little time. Find love. Help them.

It comes in waves I, Am only led to wonder why It comes and goes in waves I, Am only led to wonder why Why I try

This is the most painful part of the song for me. After the feeling has passed, there's this emptiness. Always around me. When I want to go away, And lock myself.

This is a very subtle song that talks about the struggles introverts feel in the world. We try to love, to be loved. But there comes a time when everything nauseates us. In our trough we lock ourselves from the world. Something I'm going through right now.

I hope someone reads this and understand that they are not alone in their solitary cell. All of us are.

this song is for losers...but especially for those who think they can do it better!! (i don't know what concept of losers people you have but, loser is anyone who never wins, health, sports, economically, popularity, whatever)

    My Interpretation

What I love about music is that everyone hears a different story, as a depressed human I look at this and it screams a me my story

This one's for the lonely The one's that seek and find Only to be let down Time after time

This is pretty straight forward this song is for the lonely the ones who are looking for something (Happiness love etc.) but they do not find what they are looking for over and over again

This one's for the torn down The experts at the fall Come on friends get up now You're not alone at all

This song is for the ones who feel broken the ones who know falling like no other but dont give up stand up dust the dirt off because we all go through trials you're not the only one we are there for you.

And this part was for her And this part was for her This part was for her Does she remember?

And this is for all of those who are not okay do they remember that there is still beauty in the world that we are all here for eachother

It comes and goes and waves I

Personally this makes me think of depression people think that depression is a constant thing but that's not always true personally I find that my depression is on and off it literally comes and goes in waves.

This one's for the faithless The ones that are surprised They're only where they are now Regardless of their fight

This song is for the one who have no faith anymore the ones that are surprised that after they tried so hard this is where they ended up.

This one's for believing If only for it's sake Come on friends get up now Love is to be made

This song is for the ones who kept believing get up let's make the world r

And this part was for her And this part was for her This part was for her Does she remember?

It comes and goes in waves I,

The chorus again I already explained that

Am only led to wonder why It comes in goes in waves I, Am only led to wonder why Why I try

He's wonder why he even tries anymore life is hard and nothing good happens why even try

This is for the ones who stand For the ones who try again For the ones who need a hand For the ones that think they can

This song is for those who stand even though their knees are about to give out for those who try again even though they keep on failing those who need help and the one who still believe they can do it

It comes in waves I, Am only led to wonder why It comes and goes in waves I, Am only led to wonder why Why I try

Again he wonders why he tries anymore.

Anywho that's my interpretation of the song hope that helped a bit.

I saw him perform a few weeks ago, and he explained that this song is about when him and his family were going through a lot of painful things, like death and illness. He just explained that he wrote this song for them, to help him and them get through it all.

Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.

He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Holiday

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
