Pink Ego Box Lyrics

Its gonna be okay
can't afford another day
at fifty bytes per second
I've never seen your face
I've never heard your voice
but I think I like it
When you instant message me with a promise
I can feel it
I can tell you're gonna be
just like me
my eyes are going astray
my heart is feeling pain
at fifty beats per second
I've never seen your eyes
I've never heard your lies
but i think I like it
when you instant message me with a promise
and I can feel it
I can tell you're gonna be
just like me
you turn
you turn
you turn on me

This song to me is about how our society today has gone totally digital and anti-social. We tend to express our feelings through indirect ways, ex: text messaging, and instant messaging. This method of expressing ourselves is very impersonal when compared to doing it face to face. Towards the end of the song Matt shows what happens when you take impersonal expression seriously. The one expressing it gives the wrong vibes to the recipient causing the person to go crazy being led to believe falsely. In short it's probably a better idea to express yourself to the person face.

Wicked sweet song though!!!

I meat my girlfriend over the internet...nothing bad about it

I'm pretty sure the last three lines are "You didn't tell, you didn't tell, you didn't tell me!" He could be referring to a number of things. Matt mentions that he's "never heard your lies", maybe this is the point where he relives the realization that she is a liar or that something she said turned out to be false. Or it could possibly be something about her appearance: He appeared to be waiting for something to download on an incredibly slow internet (50 bites per second), which I suspect is a picture. He continues to put off downloading the picture though, putting faith in the idea that she's going to be practically perfect. Whatever it is she didn't tell him, it was enough to throw him into, for lack of a better word, hysteria at the end of the song.

Definatley an online relationship of some sorts. The end of the song could possibly mean a stalker, but its almost a tragic cyber love song.

I think you might be pretty right. This song was written while Bellamy had an on-line relationship with a Dutch girl....or so they say :)
