Faith Won't Fail Lyrics

You could throw me
In the fire
And I won't be burned
For my faith
Is Your desire
And Your love endures

You could throw me
In the prison cell
Shackle me up
Against the rail
But time
And time again
My faith won't fail

Chorus:
For He'll prevail
In the midst of all
My trials
And tribulations
And He'll prevail
In the midst of all
My sin
And temptations
He'll prevail
When I fall
And He
Will pick me up
For time
And time again
My faith won't fail
Time and time again
My faith won't fail

You could cast me
In the lion's den
But they won't harm me
For Your grace
Surrounds me
And it sets me free

And I can walk
Upon the water
And I will not drown
For my eyes are
Set upon You
And no one
Can bring me down

For His angels
Surround me
And You've poured out
This blood covering
And I will walk
And not fail
For time
And time again
My faith won't fail
Time
And time again
My faith won't fail

I don't think her faith has prevailed...

Oh please, just because she sings a fricking song about Kissing a Girl, does not mean she has turned her back on her faith, and that song does not suddenly make her a bad person. The first person she thanked on her album One of the Boys was God, thank you very much. This song is great, and I hope she does a few more Christian songs in the future.

Something that I find to be interesting...in the song "I Kissed A Girl", if you listen to her lyrics, she even admits that it is WRONG.

It seems that you, Mr. Incontrallable, have never read The Bible.

if we're gonna turn this into a biblical discussion, then the bible makes sparse and cryptic references to homosexuality, and of the less cryptic ones, the most blunt can be found in leviticus, which also condemns fields that grow multiple types of crops, clothes made of multiple types of fabric, and says that kids who "curseth" their parents "shall surely be put to death" (20:9). so biblical decisiveness on homosexuality could hardly be trusted.

it's not so much the suggestion of homosexuality, or bicuriosity, she makes in "i kissed a girl," but rather the reference to a type of lifestyle, that makes her faith here seem so out of place. the lifestyle, of course, being one of a partying (drinking, sexual) nature. the bible clearly does frown upon such actions and lifestyles, as do muslims, jews and all other monotheistic religions. such a lifestyle becomes difficult to justify religiously after only a brief glance at the bible. now, one could argue that she never actually endorsed that lifestyle, only hinted at it, but the end result is the same, and the message is still getting out.

i am of the opinion that most christians have no idea what's actually in the bible (american christians, anyway), and instead they simply spout trite sayings and things they've heard (from parents or preachers or T.V.) are in the bible. katy perry (and joshua james, and mat kearney...) strikes me as among that crowd. it doesn't take much thought, or courage, to be a christian in america, nor does it take much courage to believe in god. thus, they are given shelter for believing in something. and instead of anyone asking anyone to question their beliefs so as to solidify them (after all, one gains more confidence in one's own opinions if the research has been done to back the opinions up), "authority" figures simply say "good job, keep believing." because atheism is, after all, the worst crime of all. and better these people cling to thanking a god they don't know than realizing that it's all just a great big fairytale spun to give adults invisible friends to play with.

personally, i don't care whether she, or anyone else, has a "faith" (though i am completely convinced that "faith," religiously, is a very bad thing). i tend to laugh when i hear christian songs, or songs about god or faith or angels, because they are so tacky and lame, usually thoughtless and always cliched. i think it would lend a tremendous amount to her credibility, however, (both intellectually and as a songwriter) if she sticks to talking about relationships and boys and friends. this song is a blatant failure. too bad, cus i had nothing but legitimate interest in her music before i heard this one.

It will take alot of courage to believe in God when you have a gun to your head.

i did, however, find out that this was among her songs that she sang back when she was like 15 and a christian bible singer by the name of "katy hudson." and when she realized that the secular world liked her a lot more than the christian one, she died her hair, changed her name, and kissed a girl or two. if this is true, then i'd have to recant my arguments against her in the post immediately above this, cus is seems she did just what i hoped she would: bail on the christian messages and stick to secular ones. we'll see if she throws some god-praising songs on upcoming albums.

i found this information here: http://blogs.nypost.com/popwrap/archives/2009/01/does_katy_perry_still_love_jesus_ask_katy_hudson.html the song is surprisingly well produced, and her voice sounds just as mature as it does now.

So why did she turn into a slut a couple years later?

I believe she still holds her faith somewhere very close to her heart. ("Part Of Me") She made a mistake when she was young, she was decieved for fame and fortune for her life, and she signed on for it...and now she is suffering from her decision. I think she is trying her best to fight back against her demons and come back to Christ. ("Wide Awake")
