I See Houses Lyrics
Rows and rows f red bricks
I see black cars
Some blood-stained exit
I get this
feeling that I've
I've been
In here before
How many lives
Will you waste
How many tears
Must I taste
Ah-ah-ah
Before my freedom
Ah-ah-ah
Blood-red sunsets
I see a billion stars
Love deafened and betrayed
I get
this feeling that I
I've been
In here before
How many lives
Will I waste
How many tears
Must I taste
Ah-ah-ah
Before my freedom
Ah-ah-ah
this feeling that I
I've been
In here before
How many lives
Will I waste
How many tears
Must I taste
Ah-ah
That I
I've been
Here before
How many lives
Will I waste
How many blood
Must I taste
Oh
This murder
Trouble and strife
Turning me
Into another guy
It's just murder
Trouble and strife
Turning me
Into another guy
Don't be late
Don't be late
When I call you up
Oooh-oooh-ooh-ooh
Oooh-oooh-ooh-ooh
Oooh-oooh-ooh-ooh
Oh-my, my, my, my
My, my, my, aaah
"I get this feeling that I, I've been here before. How many lives will you waste. How many tears must I taste. Before my freedom." - I think Its about feeling the sadness again. He's having trouble on his mind. Life/Time that he wasted. How many times did he try to change? How many times did he failed?
"I see houses. Rows and rows of red bricks. I see black cars. Some blood-stained exit." "I see mountains, blood-red sunsets. I see a billion stars. Love deafened and betrayed." - I imagine him on his room, on the window watching the street, the houses, thinking how successful/happy they are. He thinks he's a prodigal son, and no one loves him.
"It's just this murder. Trouble and strife turning me into another guy." - Sadness is killing him. Depression, holding on at the same time. Imagine the feeling.
"Dont be late when I call you up." - He wants somebody to understand and save him.
I think this songis about feeling like you've lived a million lives, and all have been wasted and painful.
'Trouble and strife turning me into another guy' - think he's saying the evil and pain in the world that we all see, shapes us into different people.
I might be wrong but i think this song ties in with Appalachian Spring. Both songs are about life.. Questions of where we go after life, and when. Wanting there to be something better than this.
Right or wrong, the album is amazing.
All songs by the Verve are about life.
All songs by the Verve are about life.
The new album is so good. Richard ashcroft has created songs with a brilliant atmospheric feeling. The excellent screeching guitars. Well layered tracks with incredible phycedelic vibes. And Richard Ashcroft's vocals make this album amazing! Love it!
for me this is about a man, whose seen everything in his area and needs to break free somehow :)
