Ten thousand drunken kids in a field can't be wrong
The song must be beautiful or they wouldn't sing along
And if sometimes the kids all seem a little sad,
it's 'cause they're saying goodbye to the youth they think they had

I see it in your eyes, you're sick of me lying
I want to tell the truth but I'm afraid that you'll leave
I sing like a child, to keep me from dying

I'm 14 forever, if I make you believe
I'm 14 forever, if I make you believe
I'm 14 forever, if I make you believe

The hit is hammered out, the audience erupts
The revolution starts in a sea of paper cups
We look behind us when you cheer for someone else
I'm the only lover you can keep upon the shelf

I hear it in your voice, you're tired of the song now
and deep inside your mind you hear a song of your own
But keep me beside you 'cause it's been too long now

I'm 14 forever, so don't leave me alone
I'm 14 forever, so don't leave me alone
I'm 14 forever, so don't leave me alone
I'm 14 forever

I remember on the sidewalk when I bike up to the hills
You singing in the headphones as I told you that I will
That song again in the alleyway takes me to my door
I'll be back for more, I'll be back for more,
I'll be back for more, I'll be back for more

hi guys- just wanted to correct a few lyrics, which may lead you toward a clearer understanding of the song

    1. it's, "i see it in your eyes, you're sick of me lying" 2.it's, "i sing like a child to keep me from dying" 3.it's "the hit is hammered out, the audience erupts, the revolution starts in a sea of paper cups 4.it's "i hear it in your voice, you're tired of the song now, and deep inside your mind you hear a song of your own, but keep me beside you, cause it's been too long now, i'm fourteen forever so don't leave me alone"

the song is about you-the listener. it's a plea to remember the people who soudtrack those summers you thought the song was about. and in a way, it's poetically correct that you interpret it differently; the song in a way is a lament for the strange phenomenon of being in a band, where you grow older but the kids always stay young....don't forget us....keep listening.... 14 forever, torq@stars....

summer is a time for festivities, notably concerts. the summer in the song seems to refer to the last summer before high school. the guy falls in love with the girl but he's afraid to express it. Yet he knows the girl could love him back. At the end of that summer she tells him she'll see him again, but he's too busy to notice.

I was just typing this song as I saw you entered yours, I had almost exactly the same! This song is quite obvious about summerloving, and living through the summer with love and friends when you're young.

instead of: The revolution starts in the sealed paper cups

i heard "the revolution starts in a sea of paper cups" which goes with the whole festival feel of "10 thousand drunken kids in a field can't be wrong" i love this song!

this is definitely one of my favorite songs by stars. it seems to the story of my life right now. i think it's pretty much saying that the person wants to have a good time, and the other person should watch over them so they don't do something wrong. he wants it to be like older times, like young love in a way, so he tries to make things simpler for him and the girl. i really don't know, i just love love love the song.
