Rated 0 rate down rate up I had always assumed this site was for posting song translations / meanings, i haven't really seen many attempts at that, mostly everyone commenting on if they like it or not. I would like to comment on what this song means to me, when i first heard this song it impacted me pretty well because i felt like it was singing right to me.

To me this song is about a forbidden love. Perhaps an adulterous love. The man has a family that is more important to him than anything else, but he has allowed himself to fall in love with another woman. Now stuck in this funky limbo, he sings about how his heart tears both ways.

I'm not loving you, the way I wanted to:

All though he felt something for the girl, he didnt feel he was being true as he knew deep down inside he would never give his family up for her.

What I had to do, had to run from you I'm in love with you, but the vibe is wrong And that haunted me, all the way home

He was afraid of what could happen. had to find a way to run. to get out of the relationship. but he confesses, that even though the vibe was wrong... hes in love with her. I imagine it kept him up late at night "haunting" him.

It started out innocent, maybe playful flirting and friendship, love developed but they kept it under check, eventually he fears it will spin out of control, which will in effect end their relationship with many regrets, aka "screaming no, no, no, no"

Again mixed feelings, wants to move, but cant escape, she has him soul bound, all he can do is try to keep it a secret for as long as possible.

To me it sounds like hes singing a warning, to everyone who may be flirting with danger, to keep their love lock down. Don't play with fire, dont open yourself up to that.

I can't keep my cool, so I keep it true I've got something to lose, so I got to move I can't keep myself, and still keep you too

Hes not true to himself if he keeps this up, he realizes and understands that, he has something to lose by being in this relationship of forbidden love. He cant live in both worlds any more.

Im not sure what this verse means, it feels important i just dont understand it. When he is off in the danger zone, with his forbidden lover, he asks himself how many times it took before he got through? i dont know what that symbolizes though.

Possibly a break up note, he knows this girl is truly in love with him as well, he doesn't want her wasting the best years of her life waiting for him, living only half a life with him. He is trying to make her see there is no end to that.

who knew it would come to this, who knew any of this would happen, after he broke up with her, he cant get the love to leave. He is haunted worse by it now that before.

He tries and tries to make the love go away, having to fight it so hard makes him question it, and doubt himself, what is right now? he is confused and wants her to make the decision.

He realizes that where he wants to go in life, his mistress cant come along. and then he realizes he is just back where he started.

the chorus plays again, he tells that it is just better not to play with fire in the first place. I think its interesting at the end he just repeats, you lose you lose lose, i don't think hes pointing his finger at one person here, but rather at everyone who has suffered for this forbidden love, himself included.
