S&M

She's basically saying she likes pushing the edge and being taboo in the media's eyes. Making this song about S&M is an example of this. The media is the sadist and Rihanna is the masochist.

This song has an obvious meaning..sex. S&M is sadomasochism....interaction, especially sexual activity, in which one person enjoys inflicting physical or mental suffering on another person, who derives pleasure from experiencing pain.& gratification, especially sexual, gained through inflicting or receiving pain; sadism and masochism combined. So yes, obviously about sex, but not just any sex. Rough sex. and then, if you watch the video you will see things like "daddy troubles, bad boys, princess of the Illuminati"..and many more. Again, obviously she is not seriously involved with that stuff, but it is what the press if saying about her. She shows it in a creative way..her dress is made of newspaper, and you see as the press write these things about her.

Obviously about the paparazzi, the media.

"out the box, outta line." She's thinking of going outside the box, but media thinks it's out of line.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones" Why else would this line be used if it wasn't talking about gossip, childish mean words, etc?

Think about it.

Am I the only one who doesn't "buy" baby-faced, squeaky-voiced Rihanna singing about S&M? They're just trying to market her as hard-edged to keep up with the Lady Gagas, Ke$has, etc. But c'mon, Rihanna is about as badass as Snow White.

in my opinion rihanna is right to be sarcastic after what shes been through its good to laugh and let the world know that you can get over what you've been through. it happends that the media alsways talks but never knows the facts mostly about someone's life this song has great meaning of why they shouldnt talk about her shes a sweetheart people should know better than to catogorize her about being like that!!!!
