Blow Lyrics

(Laughs) Dance

Backdoor, cracked we don't need a key
We get in for free, no V.I.P. sleaze
Drink that Kool-Aid, follow my lead
Now you're one of us, you're coming with me

It's time to kill the lights and shut the DJ down
This place about to, tonight we're taking over
No one's getting out

This place about to blow, blow
This place about to blow, blow
This place about to blow, blow
This place about to blow, blow
This place about to

Now what, what? We're taking control
We get what we want, we do what you don't
Dirt and glitter cover the floor
We're pretty and sick, we're young and we're bored

It's time to lose your mind and let the crazy out
This place about to, tonight we're taking names
'Cause we don't mess around

This place about to blow, blow
This place about to blow, blow
This place about to blow, blow
This place about to blow, blow
This place about to

Go insane, go insane
Throw some glitter, make it rain on him
Let me see them hands
Let me, let me see them hands

Go insane, go insane
Throw some glitter, make it rain on him
Let me see them hands
Let me, let me see them hands

We are taking over, blow
Get used to it, blow

This place about to blow, blow
This place about to blow, blow
This place about to blow, blow
This place about to blow, blow
This place about to blow

This song is extremely deep when you think about it like this.

This music video is about humanity and an alternate civilization or "race" warning Earth. Maybe I'm way off but I'm gonna keep thinking this. Look at the lyrics. "Drink that Kool-Aid/follow my lead/Now you're one of us/You're coming with me. Doesn't that sound like some sort of initiation? (Note: Don't think I'm talking about Illuminati, because that's bullsh*t.) "It's time to kill the lights and shut the DJ down." I believe that means that this group of people is telling humanity to either quiet down or escape. Because if we don't escape: "Tonight, WE'RE taking over/No one's getting out/This place about to blow, blow x 4." It could also mean that humanity is set for self-destruct the way we're running things. Any minute, this world will fall apart because of us.
"Now what? We're taking control...We're pretty + sick/We're young + we're bored." "Young and bored" is an extremely important line because Kesha is referring to the idiocy of teenagers today and how they're not gonna get anywhere. In fact, they just might BLOW us all up. Look at the almost pointless music video and think about how stupid she sounds at the beginning: it's pointless babbling just look most of the things we say today. The music video is one major farce.

At the same time, this video could mean the exact opposite, though. The idiots could be the repressed animals. In the beginning of the music video when Kesha was talking about how she became a member of Parliament, she was making fun of politicians and how corrupt and politically awful the world is. Why is why we need to just kick back and "Go insane/throw some glitter/make it rain."

I love Ke$ha. And whether or not the song was that complex or not, I think any party song is a good party song. There's never a wrong time to be cheered up by a good music hook.

Song Meaning

Fitting that you mentioned "bullsh*t." The woman cannot sing and the song is NOT deep. Ke$ha wouldn't know deep if she were standing in a pile of dung...which would be a pile of her catchy tunes that suck.

HairyPalmJoe, I won't comment on the fact that Ke$ha can't sing, but what I will comment on is that I believe she has no intention of writing a song that is deep. Certainly the song is deep if you look into it as inkdahl claims, however, he also claims that this song represents the teenage life of today, and therefore, no deepness is needed within the lyrics. That's the thing with Ke$ha. I believe she purposefully makes her lyrics shallow, but the lyrics are just so radically shallow, they come off with a deep meaning. She...

this song is annoying!!!

My uncle works for the IRS, and he has information that other people don't. First off, Ke$ha's real name is Kesha Rose Sebert. But because she is an ILLUMINATI SLAVE (like Katy Perry), she was required to change her name to incorporate masonic symbols (i.e., dollor sign).

She is in HUGE DEBT to club promoters in Ibiza and was contractually required to release this song, despite it's obvious terrorist implications (which she is actually opposed to). Because she oppose's the song's message, she will NEVER perform it live or on MTV.

Wake up, people: "blow" is not a reference to BJ or illegal drug, it is a reference to explosions. The glitter on the hands is gun powder obviously, and the club represents Western "decadence". They are "young and bored" i.e., like Arab terrorists. They take over the club, i.e., our Western values, lock us in , "kill" the lights (gee, I wonder if the word "kill" there has sinister implications LOL), and then blow up our civilization.

It is obvious, and fortunately the IRS knows about it. But again the good news is that Ke$ha, or should i say Kesha Rose Sebert LOL, is oppposed to the message, which is why you were NEVER hear her perform this song live or on TV.

i thought it was actually about blow when i first saw the title, but then I heard the actual song. I like this song, but the music vid is really strange.

I find this song to be somewhat of an oxymoron. I think it represents creativity, but distinctively creativity after destruction of a non-creative society.

I feel this is one video where the music video needs to be taken into context- without the music video, Ke$ha's interpretation is hard to take in. The music video really guides the interpretation of the lyrics.

In any case, creativity is clearly presented- the glitter, unicorns, the rainbow guns. All these add to the idea of creativity. Lyrics also indicate an interpretation to creativity. "Go insane, go insane, throw some glitter make it rain on him" is indicative of not only creativity, but change. Ke$ha's indications are not only to bring creativity, but to destruct a modern society that doesn't treasure creativity. "It's time to lose your mind and let the crazy out" also indicates one to be creative and different, and not to be like everyone else.

"This place about to blow" indicates Ke$ha's willingness to destruct a modern society in order to reconstruct her creative society based on glitter, unicorns, and rainbows. In essence, she is metaphorically stating that people should not follow the everyday norms- they should go above and beyond to be different and creative. "It's time to kill the lights and shut the DJ down" also indicates the willingness to destruct the modern normal-doers.

The introduction of James Van Der Beek in her video is suggestive of society destruction of everyday norms. Van Der Beek is an actor and he's previously acted as a fictionalized version of himself (according to Wikipedia). He's an actor who follows a scripted screenplay, unlike Ke$ha who wants to be more spontaneous, open, and creative. Ke$ha's head-hunting of Van Der Beek suggests that creativity prevails over realism. She wants an unpredictable and abstract future, far different from the realism Van Der Beek portrays.

I might be overanalyzing the lyrics, but this is my take on it.

My Interpretation
Cover art for Blow lyrics by Ke$ha

According to Kesha "I love that I say ‘we’re taking over’ in it because my fans and me have started a cult. We’re misfits of society but we’ve banded together and we’re starting a revolution. We are taking over. So get used to it."

The song is telling the story of a cult taking over an elite club. But it's really a dark fantasy about underdogs and misfits getting the better of people who bully or mistreat them. It's sounds really creepy on her Deconstructed EP.

@jca0 I think it's actually the opposite. Honestly, cults (or the illuminati or whatever you believe in) aren't s overt as Ke$ha. Ke$ha inherently brings about secret society symbols as a way to mock the cults. In fact, I think this whole video is commentary on secret societies. She isn't physically trying to start one; instead she's pretending to be part of a secret society as a way to show what America is inherently becoming. Most secret societies are inherently secret (hence the name), where Ke$ha is inherently overt in revealing these symbols. Thus,...
