Yayo Lyrics

I like the snake on your tattoo
I like the Ivy and the
Ink blue, yayo, yes you, yayo

You have to take me right now
From this dark trailer park
Life now, yayo, how now, yayo

Put me onto your black motorcycle
Fifties baby doll dress for my 'I do"
It only takes two hours to Nevada
I wear your sparkle
You call me your mama

Let me put on a show for you daddy
Let me put on a show
Let me put on a show for you tiger,
Let me put on a show

I need you like
A baby when I hold you
Like a druggie
Like I told you

Yayo, yes you, yayo

Put me onto your black motorcycle
Fifties baby doll dress for my 'I do"
It only takes two hours to Nevada
I wear your sparkle
You call me your mama

Let me put on a show for you daddy
Let me put on a show
Let me put on a show for you tiger
Let me put on a show

Hello Heaven
You are a tunnel lined with yellow lights
On a dark night (Dark night)

Yayo, yes you, yayo

Put me onto your black motorcycle
Fifties baby doll dress for my 'I do"
It only takes two hours to Nevada
I wear your sparkle
You call me your mama

Let me put on a show for you daddy
Let me put on a show
Let me put on a show for you tiger
Let me put on a show

i think its about being addicted to coke (yayo),living in a trailor she was probably broke as hell, she probably supported her habit by stripping in las vegas which was 2 hours away . coke is sold in 50 bags, so stripping cost her innocence= 50 baby doll dresses for my i do. let me put on a show for you daddy- dancing for her clients at the strip club.

and when she talks about the snake tattoo and the black motorcycle it sounds like a bad ass dude but i think it was just coke itself being these descriptions as coke is bad.

that or shes singing about some guy who actually has a snake tattoo and rides a black motorcycle who she's head over heels in love with!.

@exkitty It was confirmed on her most recent tour it is about a friend of hers cocaine addiction, I just found it out while watching a video on youtube.

This song is so beautiful. It's kinda bittersweet to see her blow up in the US now. Hopefully she doesn't change.

@knockemout140 She did. But that doesn't mean it cannot stay the same forever in you

I think this song is definitely about being addicted to cocaine and having a drug dealer boyfriend, then going to vegas and getting married. "fifty babydoll dress for my i do" "i do" = saying "i do" at a wedding. Sounds like she's going to wear a '50s-style babydoll dress to the wedding (especially since in the last time she repeats that verse it sounds like she's saying "fifties" not "fifty"). "i wear your sparkle/you call me your mama" sparkle = wedding ring. It almost seems like her boyfriend was the equivalent to cocaine in her eyes. "I need you like/a baby when I hold you/like a druggie, like I told you." However, I'm not sure where "let me put on a show for you daddy" comes into the marriage thing. I'm not the best at this. Beautifully sad song. I adore it.

The Demo version of this song is incredible!

My Opinion
Cover art for Yayo lyrics by Lana Del Rey

I one day went to google.com, and defined "Yayo", and what came up? It said it was a drug, and what drug? Cocaine. So, I was not surprised when I found out that, that is what t mean't, because... come on now, Its Lana Del Rey, all she really talks about in her songs are either. Drugs, Love, Her life being messed up...you get the pint, so that's why I was not surprised, but to me, this song is talking about, well, what the tie means, cocaine, drug addition, because she had an achol and a drugion I think.

Sorry for misspelled words, I din't relize, my key board is being an ass, lmao

Lana is comparing the love she has for someone to cocaine. I think she feels high when he is near and she knows he isn't good for her, and it will likely end badly but she'll go to him anyway. I think its part of her rockabilly, lolita, modern street girl but vintage vibe.

I also think it's possible YAYO might have a double meaning beside the drug... You And You Only.

the second line is "i like the ivy and the ink blue" not pink blue

Lyric Correction
Cover art for Yayo lyrics by Lana Del Rey

a lot of lanas music indicates that it represents a part of her life.. the lyrics are so heart felt and raw that it feels as if the inspiration was in fact drawn from her life... thats what i love about her... even if her songs in particular this one isnt based on real life events its still beautiful as it takes a true artist to make there art seem real in everyones eyes... to me this song represents wanting to escape from something and being willing to do anything for the freedom.I dont think it has to be about coke despite the many innuendos. Perhaps its using coke as a metaphor for love and how dangerous it can be.. perhaps its using coke as a metaphor to help represent or build a mental image of euphoria, addiction, desperation,

Let me put on a show for you daddy Let me put on a show Let me put on a show for you tiger, Let me put on a show

i think this verse illustrates desperation ....'let me put on a show for you daddy'- let me show you what i can offer... you havent seen nothing yet...

I need you like A baby when I hold you Like a drug Like I told you For me this verse symbolises addiction, not being able to see whats going on the world around her because for her, her infatuation is all she needs, all she needs to make her feel safe... she doesn't care what society says because she's content with it 'like a drug' she knows her addiction may be destructive but like a drug, when you take it, all you care about is right now, how its making you feel- you don't dwell on the negatives it may cause because it makes you feel good.

Put me onto your black motorcycle Fifties baby doll dress for my 'I do" It only takes two hours to Nevada I wear your sparkle You call me your mama

This verse to me symbolises being so full of an emotion that it makes you feel as if your going to burst.... it illustrates wanting to express everything your feeling

'It only takes two hours to Nevada' this line for me shows the urgency she feels... she doesn't want to wait till its convenient or appropriate..

'I wear your sparkle You call me your mama '

This line to me represents being willing to be whatever you want me to be.. il be your comfort, your fantasy, your desire.

Hello Heaven You are a tunnel lined with yellow lights On a dark night (Dark night)

For me, this verse means euphoria...nothing can turn her away, distract, move, her of her path.. shes seen the light .. 'On a dark night (Dark night)' she finally sees everything much clearer...she sees the beauty that was always there, that always existed.

The depressing, mellow tone of this song could be interpreted as the song representing a dark time in her life... if she is singing about a life experience... but how about it represents that emotion doesnt have to be shouting from the top of your lungs with a huge grin on your face.. emotion means depth, its what you do, what you feel, not what people expect you to do or feel .....

My Interpretation
Cover art for Yayo lyrics by Lana Del Rey

I love this song. So beautiful.

Yeyo/Yayo is slang for cocaine. Lana's often referred to her teenage self as being "crazy", and hasn't had a drink or do anything since she was 18, so this is probably about her past love/bad habits.

*Also, the lyrics are supposed to be "A tunnel lined with yellow lights", not "a ton aligned with yellow lights"

While I think Track01 is right about that lyric being off (namely "I like the ivy and the pink blue"), I am not as sure that his correction is.

I think the lyric should be "I like the ivy and the pink bloom."

@Curmudgeous it's ink blue
