Hello hello, baby
You called, I can't hear a thing
I have got no service in the club you see-see
What-what-wha-a-at did you say, huh?
You're you breaking up on me
Sorry I cannot hear you, I'm kinda busy
K-kinda busy
K-kinda busy
Sorry I cannot hear you, I'm kinda busy

Just a second it's my favorite song they're gonna play
And I cannot text you with a drink in my hand, eh?
You should've made some plans with me
You knew that I was free
And now you won't stop calling me
I'm kinda busy

[CHORUS]
Stop calling, stop calling
I don't wanna think anymore
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor
Stop calling, stop calling
I don't wanna talk anymore
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor
Stop telephonin' me
I'm busy
Stop telephonin' me

You can call all you want, but there's no-one home
And you're not gonna reach my telephone
'cause I'm out in the club and I'm sippin' that bubb
And you're not gonna reach my telephone [x2]

[Beyonce]
Boy, the way you're blowin' up my phone
Won't make me leave no faster
Put my coat on faster
Leave my girls no faster
I should've left my phone at home
'cause this is a disaster
Calling like a collector
Sorry I cannot answer

It's not that I don't like you, I'm just at a party
And I am sick and tired of my phone ri-ri-n-ging
Sometimes I feel like I live in Grand Central Station
Tonight I'm not takin' no calls
'cause I'll be dancing
Tonight I'm not takin' no calls
'cause I'll be dancing

[CHORUS]
Stop calling, stop calling
I don't wanna think anymore
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor
Stop calling, stop calling
I don't wanna talk anymore
I got my head and my heart on the dance floor
Stop calling, stop calling
I don't wanna think anymore
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor
Stop calling, stop calling
I don't wanna talk anymore
I got my head and my heart on the dance floor
Stop telephonin' me
I'm busy
Stop telephonin' me

You can call if you want but there's no-one home
And you're not gonna reach my telephone
'cause I'm out in the club and I'm sippin' that bubb
And you're not gonna reach my telephone

My telephone
My-my-my telephone
'cause I'm out in the club and I'm sippin' that bubb
And you're not gonna reach my telephone
My telephone
My-my-my telephone
'cause I'm out in the club and I'm sippin' that bubb
And you're not gonna reach my telephone

We're sorry
We're sorry
The number you have reached
Is not in service at this time
Please check the number, or try your call again

It's the "Fear of Suffocation", she's so busy with "work" she feels suffocated from all the phone calls and things she has to do. She cannot go out and have a good time without someone calling her or having to do work. "Stop calling, I don't wanna think anymore. I left my hand and my heart on the dancefloor." So basically she's not answering her phone cause she wants one night of peace to have fun without any interruptions...sadly this was the only song off the Fame Monster that she didn't perform live during her concert, yet.

Fear of Commitment. (Life, Relationship, Job, etc.)

This song is obviously about someone who's choosing to avoid the person on the other side of the "Telephone". The telephone represents that person's thoughts, which in this case the Telephone is trying to tell that person that they should be doing something else other than slacking off. The caller who's being rejected could represent her boss, lover, or maybe a friend.

Sorry if that bit didn't make any sense. I'm not too good at explaining my thoughts. lol

    Great song!

Not sure if it's intended or not - but in the middle of it, "I'm busy" almost sounds like "I'm Beyoncé" - LOVE it

    My Opinion

I think this is her replacement of "Dirty Ice Cream" or a "Dirty Ice Cream part. 2" coz again, she wants him to stop calling but it's like it's happening again after the first time (the first time was "Dirty Ice Cream")

    My Interpretation

the lyric is actually "I got my head and my heart on the dance floor"

but i like this song alot, it's grown on me alot.

I see it as showing the bad side of fame/exposure. Being so caught up in having a good time in the limelight, that you forget about your loved ones.

Lady Gaga said somewhere that this song is about being a workaholic. While for most people the "dance floor" equals a fun night out, for Lady Gaga this is her job. It's about prioritizing her dance and music and performance over personal relationships. Every song on the "Fame Monster" deals with a different "monster," this one being something akin to fear of commitment or fear of not working/dancing/singing.

I believe that in this song the "Telephone" she keeps mentioning in her thoughts is her conscience. They're her thoughts constantly reminding her to work and work because she's a person that is always working and it's a daily routine for her and when she finally decides to get off her daily routine she can't enjoy it. She tries to go out to party for once but that ringing of the telephone just won't leave her alone and it keeps remaining her, almost suffocating her. She feels suffocated from all the phone calls and things she has to do that she cannot go out and have good times without someone calling her or having to do work.
