No sleep
Today
Can't even rest when the suns down
No time
There's not enough
And nobody's watchin' me now

When we were children we'd play
Out in the streets just dipped in fate
When we were children we'd say
That we don't the meaning of
Fear, fear, fear,
Fear, fear, fear
We don't know the meaning of

When we were children we'd play
Out in the streets just dipped in fate
When we were children we'd say
That we don't the meaning of
Fear, fear, fear,
Fear, fear, fear
We don't know the meaning of

Wish I
Didn't know the meaning of

This song is haunting in a way. It's about the complications and stress of life as an adult, work and pressure. And the naivety we had as children, that we didn't know what we were in for, and how we our lives were just beginning. But it's also a good reminder not to take your life and yourself too seriously. For me, it is anyways.

    Song Meaning

I think the meaning is pretty obvious. As a child you have no knowledge of pain or hurt so you live life in complete happiness. Playing in the street, is fate for the most of us. Children play in the street, it's fate. If something truly horrible was going to happen there is nothing you can do about it. (metaphorically speaking). The narrator says "when we were children we'd say that we don't know the meaning of fear" Implying that if he could go back, and realize that he was doing all these things that were carefree, he would keep going because fear means nothing to him.

Presently, the narrator wishes he still had that child-like sense of invincibility. Though, I suspect it has more to do with the proverbial playing in the street. This song can be applied to a myriad of situations and calms me down a great deal..love the piano.

    End transmission, heh.

I agree but think that it implies he is struggling to feel safe now ('wish I didn't know the meaning of...[fear]') and can't rest and doesn't feel like there's anyone looking out for him - he recognises that even though children feel fearless there is usually someone watching/caring for them.

The piano in this song is really captivating, wish there were more verses as I really like the beginning. The rest of the song seems almost dreamlike at times, which I guess kind of captures that childhood memory like quality that relates to the song.
