To Binge Lyrics

Waiting by the mailbox, by the train
Passin' by the hills 'til I hear the name
I'm looking for a saw to cut these chains in half and all I want is
Someone to rely on as
Thunder comes a rolling down
Someone to rely on as
Lightning comes a staring in again

I wait to be forgiven
Maybe I never will
My star has left me
To take the bitter pill
That shattered feeling
Well the cause of it's a lesson learned
Just don't know if I could roll into the sea again
"Just don't know if I could do it all again" she said, it's true

Waiting in my room and I lock the door
I watch the colored animals across the floor
And I'm looking from a distance
And I'm listening to the whispers
And oh it ain't the same, when your falling out of feeling and your
Falling in and caught again

I'm caught again in the mystery
You're by my side, but are you still with me?
The answers somewhere deep in it, I'm sorry but your feeling it
But I just have to tell that I love you so much these days
Have to tell you that I love you so much these days, its true

My heart is in economy
Due to this autonomy
Rolling in and caught again
Caught again

My heart is in economy
Due to this autonomy
Rolling in and caught again
Caught again

This song uses metaphors to explain what happened and how they feels after a bad relationship breakup. Thunder, lightning, those are rough times. Chains, the attachment the couple has. The bitter pill, the inconvenient truth. Rolling into the sea again is looking for someone else, another partner. "You're by my side, but are you still with me?" refers to the fact that the person is physically there, but not emotionally or with support. Other metaphors, like the colored animals, show attachment.

Waiting by the mailbox, by the train Passing by the hills 'til I hear the name Looking for a saw to cut the chains in half and all I want Is someone to rely on this Thunder comes a roaring down Someone to rely on this Lighting comes a-staring in again

In this situation, I think that the woman is waiting for some news of the man. She wants to cut her losses and move on, but she can't bring herself to do it because she loves him. But, at the same time, she knows that he's bad for her because she can't rely on him for whatever reason (drugs? immaturity?)

I'll wait to be forgiven, maybe I never will My star has left me to take the bitter pill That shattered feeling well the cause of its a lesson learned Just don't know if I can roll into the sea again Just don't know if I can do it all again, she said, 'it's true'

On the other side of the song, the guy knows that he's screwed something up with this girl. He understands that she's trying to move on for her own good and he's feeling it, but he can't bear to just move away from her as well.

Went into my room and I locked the door Watched the colored animals cross the floor But I look on from a distance and I'm listening to the whispers And oh it ain't the same when you've fallen outta feeling And you're rolling in and caught again

Now the girl is getting a little more unhinged by the situation. She has to lock herself up to make sense of what's happening to her relationship, but all she can hear are "the whispers" of what people are telling her to do. She feels like she's losing the man, but at the same time, she can't bring herself back to him because she's "fallen out of feeling."

I'm caught again in the mystery You're by my side, but are you still with me? The answers somewhere deep in it I'm sorry that you're feeling it But I just have to tell you that I love you so much these days Have to tell you that I love you so much these days, it's true

The man may have her back with him, but she's not fully emotionally invested in the relationship because of what's happened to them in the past. He wants things to be like they were again and he knows that they can't be. He can see that "the answer's somewhere deep in it" and he doesn't want her to be "feeling it." It being the repercussions of his actions. All he can do is tell her he loves her and wait for time to patch things up.

My heart is an economy, due to this autonomy Rolling in and caught again

Because it's free again, the man's heart (and possibly the woman's) are divided between a lot of different areas. Sort of the same sentiment as Blur's Out of Time. "And you've been so busy lately/That you haven't found the time..." They could move on, but at the same time, they don't want to lose the other. Their hearts are divided due to their freedom.

the 2nd last line is

"my heart is an economy, due to this autonomy"

i think that he was in a relationship and messed up BIG TIME. And they still want to be together but because of what i think is a drug addiction its difficult for them to be with one another. He is trying so hard to make himself better but he dosen't know if he can.

That's mt opinoin

my favorite on the album. <3 heres what i think..

ok. these two were in a relationship. but for whatever reason (a lot of people i've seen think its dugs -_-) they break up. they still love each other. she wants to be with him but doesn't know if she can take it anymore. he's clearly done something to her. he wants her back but he knows that he's eff'd up, "That shattered feeling well the cause of its a lesson learned." it sounds like an on again off again relationship.

its a big been there done that for me. a lover left me and this is all i listened to for a week.

My Opinion

Think you might be onto something here.

Not Valid

This song is not literally about the economy, or fishing, or the sea. It's about a relationship that was once amazing but has fallen into unhappiness and repetition. The first verse is about her destructive desire to be with him, or basically a desperate need to feel loved. The second verse shows his deep feelings of doubt and guilty reluctance. Later he finds himself "caught again," but she eventually expresses her own doubts. They love each-other and yet it's not the same as it was before, and it probably never will be. It strikes a very beautiful bittersweet note, like many of the Gorillaz' tracks. The track ends with 2D expressing his 'autonomy.' But they sing together that they're caught.

These are hauntingly beautiful and insightful lyrics. Excellent song.

Song Meaning

I get the feeling that this song is more about the idea of being in love. Wanting to love the person even when there is no real feelings. The people in this song seem to be together just becuase they are lazy. It would go along with the whole theme of the album, if this is nothing more than a manufactured relationship, created only out the fear of being alone and yet still it is part of who they are.

i know exactly what this song is about, because i'm going through it right this moment.

the songs about two people, binging on there love, and their drugs.

Went into my room and I locked the door Watched the colored animals cross the floor But I look on from a distance and I'm listening to the whispers And oh it ain't the same when you've fallen outta feeling And you're rolling in and caught again

right there, she's high, and then she's fallen out of her thoughts her feelings, then she comes back to reality and it's fucking miserable, but her love's there, but she doesn't know if he's really hers.

For him, I'll wait to be forgiven, maybe I never will My star has left me to take the bitter pill That shattered feeling well the cause of its a lesson learned Just don't know if I can roll into the sea again Just don't know if I can do it all again, she said, 'it's true'

he doesn't know if she loves him, but he's scare to love her because he knows how a broken heart feels so he knows that drugs will make him not care, but he just doesn't know if he can roll into feelings again, and she knows it's true.
