You know tonight
I am feeling a little out control
Is this me
You wanna get crazy
Because I don't give a

I'm out of character
I'm in rare form
And If you really knew me
You'd know its not the norm

'Cause I'm doing things that I normally won't do
The old me's gone I feel brand new
And if you don't like it fuck you

The music's on and I'm dancing
I'm normally in the corner just standing
I'm feeling unusual
I don't care 'cause this is my night

I'm not myself tonight
Tonight I'm not the same girl same girl

I'm not myself tonight
Tonight I'm not the same girl same girl

I'm dancing a lot and I'm taking shots and I'm feeling fine
I'm kissing all the boys and the girls
Someone call the doctor 'cause I lost my mind

'Cause I'm doing things that I normally won't do
The old me's gone I feel brand new
And if you don't like it fuck you

The music's on and I'm dancing
I'm normally in the corner just standing
I'm feeling unusual
I don't care cause this is my night

I'm not myself tonight
Tonight I'm not the same girl same girl

I'm not myself tonight
Tonight I'm not the same girl same girl

In the morning
When I wake up
I'll go back to the girl I used to be
But baby not tonight

I'm not myself tonight
Tonight I'm not the same girl same girl

I'm not myself tonight
Tonight I'm not the same girl same girl

Yeah, that feels good
I needed that
Get crazy
Let's go
That's right
Come on
Give it to me now, don't stop

    Song Meaning

The meaning behind the song is quite straightforward. She was uncomfortable in the image she put out in her career over the last several years, and now she's expressing what she really wants to.

She was uncomfortable as the 'girl next door', and she's admitting she's... Kind of a dirty slut, I guess.

I don't think the Gaga comparison is very fair, everything slightly unusual is compared to her now, and the video was more fetish than fashion.

I think it's a bold move for Aguilera to be up front and show herself in this image, and it's bound to attract criticism for being sexualised, and now apparently it's also criticised because Gaga is the only person allowed to make slightly avant-garde colourful pop music videos.

First of all, im pretty sure Christina Aguilera was before Lady Gaga. So whatever image she's portraying or trying to now i think is something that she wants to do not to copy lady gaga. Sure it looks alot like Gaga's style.I wouldn't compare her to Gaga when Christina's voice is much better. She's trying to say that she's finally finding herself and there's nothing wrong with that. She's not alittle girl anymore so there's nothing wrong with doing what she wants.

And just because she says "im kissing all the boys and girls" doesn't mean you should automatically hate a song.

She FOUND herself 8 years ago when she released her 2nd album "Stripped", so I'm more than sure that 'phase' is over and done with.

I'm pretty sure their managers/producers/advisors pretty much forced her to make this kind of song (haven't heard the entire album) as a career move, just to bring her back in the spotlight. Were they right in doing so? NO . Christina have always shined because of her voice not because she was the sluttiest or the most eccentric, so trying to impose what's trending right now ended up in this song being half GaGa and half Stripped era. I like this song, though the vocals kinda don't fit in, but the synths and beat in general is brilliant.

I don't think the song is about Christina trying to reinvent herself. If she was trying to reinvent herself (again), why "In the morning when she wakes up will she go back to the girl she used to be?"

In the morning When I wake up I'll go back to the girl I used to be But baby Not tonight

That's just what I think. For all I know, this is a new, reinvented Christina.

i BARELY liked it and thought it would grow on me until she said

I'm kissing all the boys and girls

and now it's done. i don't know why she's still trying to make music. she should stop.

Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

This song is def a twin to "Unfair" (a song she has been quoted as saying is about falling in love with someone who is already in a relationship) so it is presumably about the same person. Given the references to buying an apartment and not being able to see her love interest "after tonight," it's most likely that she's moving away and she'll "wait a day to break the bad news" (i.e. notifying him that she's leaving once she's already gone). And, of course, the fact that she sees in him a fellow "idealist" and "dreamer" (terms commonly given to people with the INFP personality on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)) portends that she'll always be left wondering if they would've been perfect together.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
