Hey
This is the night
This is the night
Hey
Feelin' alive
Feelin' alive

My heart goes boom as the stars go blue
Like a sea of cell phone lights
The moon gets light as the sun goes down
Somewhere behind the Hollywood sign

Have you ever felt like you're livin' in the shadows?
Have you ever felt kept out?
I know sometimes that it feels like a battle
But it can turn around

Hey
This is the night
This is the night
Hey
Feelin' alive
Feelin' alive

The kick drum starts as the boulevard
Filled up with all the boys and the girls
Jersey town to the L.A. Crowd
They're hearing us all over the world

Have you ever felt like standin' on a rooftop?
Have you ever wanted to scream?
Everybody dance, burn it up 'til we blast off
Just like a rocket machine

Hey
This is the night
This is the night
Hey
Feelin' alive
Feelin' alive

'Cause we're not alone tonight
So raise up your hands and touch the sky
'Cause we're not alone tonight

Hey
This is the night
This is the night (yeah)
Hey (yeah)
Feelin' alive
Feelin' alive (feelin' alive)

Hey
This is the night
This is the night
(This is the night)
Hey
Feelin' alive (feelin')
Feelin' alive

Hey
This is the night
This is the night
(Can you feel it?)
Hey
Feelin' alive
Feelin' alive

Hey
This is the night
This is the night
Hey
Feelin' alive
Feelin' alive

    General Comment

I think this song can have multiple meanings, depending on the way you percieve it.

One of the meanings, and probably the most obvious one is that this song is about a night that you've been looking forward to for quite a while. It's a night that you've had high expectations for and the night had finally arrived. "Hey, this is the night This is the night" quite obviously means that this is the night they had been waiting for and they are going to make the best out of it.

The other and deeper meaning I believe this is song has is that the song is about having a rough day or time period in your life. However, one day occurs that makes you forget about all the indecenies that have occured lately, and having an amazing night without all the bad occurences. "Cause we're not alone tonight. So raise up your hands and touch the sky" means that you realize that you're not the only one feeling the way that you did and there are people who are less unfortunate than you are and to "raise up your hands and touch the sky" and go out and live life.

    My Interpretation

I think that on the face of it, this song is about having a good time. "Everybody dance, burn it up till we blast off. Just like a rocket machine, yeah."

However, it does seem to have more meaning to it than that, as shown with a few of the lyrics that run through it. It's saying that you aren't alone "Cause we're not alone tonight, so raise up your hands and touch the sky", and to keep on living - to keep on feeling alive - 'cause even when it seems like everything is lost, or terrible, things can get better "I know sometimes that it feels like a battle, but it can turn around".

Also, my personal favourite lyric from this song... "Have you ever felt like standing on a rooftop? Have you ever you ever wanted to scream?" ♥

Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.

The Spy

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.
