It's been a long time since I came around
Been a long time but I'm back in town
And this time I'm not leavin' without you

You taste like Whiskey when you kiss me, oh
I'd give anything again to be your baby doll
This time I'm not leavin' without you

He said, "Sit back down where you belong
In the corner of my bar with your high heels on
Sit back down on the couch where we made love the first time"
And you said to me there's

(Somethin') Somethin', somethin' about this place
(Somethin') Somethin' about lonely nights
And my lipstick on your face
(Somethin') Somethin', somethin' about my cool Nebraska guy
Yeah, somethin' about baby you and I

It's been two years since I let you go
I couldn't listen to a joke or rock and roll
Muscle cars drove a truck right through my heart

On my birthday you sang me A Heart of Gold
With a guitar humming and no clothes
This time I'm not leavin' without you, oh (oh)

Sit back down where you belong
In the corner of my bar with your high heels on
Sit back down on the couch where we made love the first time
And you said to me there's

(Somethin') Somethin', somethin' about this place
(Somethin') Somethin' about lonely nights
And my lipstick on your face
(Somethin') Somethin', somethin' about my cool Nebraska guy
Yeah, somethin' about baby you and I

You and I
You you and I
You you and I
You you and I-I

You and I
You you and I
Oh yeah, I'd rather die
Without you and I

Come on, put your drinks up

We got a whole lot of money, but we still pay rent
'Cause you can't buy a house in Heaven
There's only three men that I'ma serve my whole life
It's my daddy and Nebraska and Jesus Christ, there's

(Somethin') Somethin', somethin' about the chase (six whole years)
(Somethin') I'm a New York woman born to run you down
Still want my lipstick all over your face
(Somethin') Somethin', somethin' about just knowin' when it's right
So put your dreams up for Nebraska
For Nebraska, Nebraska, I love you

You and I
You you and I
Baby I'd rather die
Without you and I-I-I

You and I
You you and I
Nebraska
I'd rather die
Without you and I-I-I

It's been a long time since I came around
Been a long time but I'm back in town
And this time I'm not leavin' without you

This is about Luc Carl, GaGa's Nebraskan on-off boyfriend, who she has been in love with for "six whole years". He works in a bar in New York and also tries his hand at many other things. Of all the men GaGa's dated, he's the one she's fallen for most in spite of how tumultuous their relationship can be, and I don't think she ever got over him, even when they spent a couple of years apart. She was determined to get him back and I think she associates him with New York and who Gaga was at the beginning, and who Stefani Germanotta was. That's what the whole "this time I'm not leaving without you" thing is about.

I think he's had quite a heavy influence on this whole album, though not directly. He's into Rock and Roll and is obsessed with his cars, which also explains "I couldn't listen to a joke or rock 'n' roll, and muscle cars drove a truck right through my heart"

    It's a lovely song.

I think it's hilarious in the video for this song, she's out there in the middle of Nebraska in her platforms and her black garb get-up looking like a New York doll scarecrow chasing down the camera. :)I can actually sing this one.lol

it's about her ex-boyfriend luc carl.

2 years ago Lady gaga made her big break, so im assuming she had to leave her boyfriend behind. Hence the lyric :

It's been two years since I let you go

he owns a bar in NYC and he's from Nebraska

    here's his myspace

Now someone should revise for the album version. "Something about the chase..." etc. Either way. Worthy heir to Speechless.

My opinion (Don't attack me for having a point of view different to the majority): This song is about self-love. It is to do with find every part of yourself, all your different sides and fantasies. The things which have inspired and helped you to live as who you are, and satisfying each of those parts. In the music video she plays at least six different sides of herself, showcasing their personalities. For one example of this, there is the young girl playing the piano; she seems childlike and wholesome, wearing nightgown- type attire and smiling up naively at the older Joe Calderone (I may have misspelled that, forgive me). I think she probably symbolises LG's mid-late-teen self. She has described her upbringing as sheltered, specifically from sexuality (went to an all-girls Catholic school), and that seems to be how this character acts. And as for some of the lyrics which seem to indicate a past lover, it's instead about the aspects of her personality which she left behind. The parts of herself she forgot to please, or hadn't the chance try to because of the recent years of fame. That is how I like to think about it. I think it has a deeper message than the general opinions about her ex boyfriend. It appeals to me greatly.

I think it's just a soulful, 70's/80's inspired rock ballad, and the meaning behind it seems quite obvious in the lyrics, it seems about some guy who she had something with a couple years back, and she meets him again and insists on keeping him this time around.

I can't get this song out of my head. I love how this song has an old school rock feel to it. Its (as far as Gaga goes) pretty stripped-down and honest.

This song is def a twin to "Unfair" (a song she has been quoted as saying is about falling in love with someone who is already in a relationship) so it is presumably about the same person. Given the references to buying an apartment and not being able to see her love interest "after tonight," it's most likely that she's moving away and she'll "wait a day to break the bad news" (i.e. notifying him that she's leaving once she's already gone). And, of course, the fact that she sees in him a fellow "idealist" and "dreamer" (terms commonly given to people with the INFP personality on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)) portends that she'll always be left wondering if they would've been perfect together.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
