She Wolf (Falling To Pieces) Lyrics
A past lost in space
Where do I start?
The past and the chase
You hunted me down
Like a wolf, a predator
I felt like a deer in love lights
Hungry for that flesh of mine
But I can't compete with the she wolf who has brought me to my knees
What do you see in those yellow eyes?
'Cause I'm falling to pieces
Falling to pieces
I'm falling to pieces
Falling to pieces
Was I bait, to pull you in?
The thrill of the kill,
You feel, is a sin
I lay with the wolves, alone, it seems
I thought I was part of you
Hungry for that flesh of mine
But I can't compete with the she wolf who has brought me to my knees
What do you see in those yellow eyes?
'Cause I'm falling to pieces
Falling to pieces
I'm falling to pieces
Falling to pieces
Falling to pieces (falling to pieces)
I'm falling to pieces (falling to pieces)
Falling to pieces
I enjoyed reading all the comments so far, but I think this has to do with something a little different than someone cheating.
After I read the song a few times, I realized that Sia may be singing about herself. The first clue is the title "She Wolf". When we think of werewolves, the first thing that comes to mind is a man that turns into a wolf. Well, she wolf is a woman who turns into a female wolf.
I believe Sia is referring to herself, I think her personality changes at certain times for certain reasons, and apparently the person she's speaking to is enjoying that side of her, but somehow that makes her a little jealous that he seems to like her wild side better. Also, when I say "Sia is referring to herself" it doesn't necessarily mean her personally, but the speaker in the lyrics.
Anyhoo, let me know what you guys think of my perspective on this. You agree, yes, no, maybe, and why? :D
I completely agree with you. I had to listen to it few times, and then I came to conclusion that she is reffering to herself. She-wolf is her, and she becomes that because thats what HE wants and thats why she is falling apart. Its easy to assume its a cheating song, but if you listen closely, especially from this lyric:

She is obviously talking about herself being the wild she-wolf he craves about.

I agree, even more so if you watch the youtube, it clearly shows a wolf turning into a women at the end.

In that video there is an interesting aspect : you have humans chasing the wolf ( the wolf side of her) , but there is also a wolf in the background at a certain point.

To me, it's the struggle between the 'inner wolf' and the human being, where the outside world dislikes her wolf side, but the person she's with loves the wolf. But ultimately, she is both.

Also, there's a strong resemblance with 'Titanium' , which to me is also a struggle against the outside world.

The feeling I get is : You are yourself, they way you should be : don't let the world dictate how/what you should be.

The wolf can numb the vulnerable side in her and she fears this side.. so she turned into that wolf, which gives her power! Her old real self gets cold and emotionless and frozen , then "falls into peaces" (dies) but she takes that sacrifice to face her predators and to control who they'll get to see/ get to know. After the chase when she's alone she can easier deal with life and the wounds.
That's my interpretation of the song although it sounds a little like you could refer it to multiple personality disorder.
The video tells a story- both the video and the lyrics - the she-wolf was once a woman who fell for and loved the hunter, but was shunned because of his guilt when he lay with her - giving into the "sin". The man turned on her and wounded her, and she fell to pieces, becoming the she wolf. Her softness vanished, replaced by razor sharp edges. Cornered and wounded, the wolf destroys those who would kill her heart. The woman may mourn afterwards, looking out across a desolate sea, but the she-wolf survives. She will always survive. - Wikipedia.

I don't think it's that easy to interpret this song without having a look at Sia's others lyrics. What I believe are two themes occurring throughout her lyrics are: 1. she seems to have a double personality (she-wolf is she + wolf) and 2. she permanently feels under attack (chase, hunt, kill are words from this song) and she must absolutely resist. If we consider Chandelier: 1. the double personality of the party girl who leads a crazy night life full of alchohol and sex, but then in the morning feels the shame; 2. she swings from the chandelier but she won't look down or open her eyes (scared), holds on for dear life as she feels in danger, she wants to resist, not to fall down. In Elastic heart the double personality is well shown by 1. the little girl first fighting in a cage with a man, but then she tries to lead him out of there and make peace. She fights for peace. She's at war but she wants peace at the same time; 2. she's got a thick skin + elastic heart and she thinks she can resist attacks, but the blade may be too sharp even for her. Or again in Titanium she's under attack (you criticize) but all your bullets ricochet 'cause I'm made of titanium (=I've got a thick skin). As a conclusion, I see a woman with a double personality who feels weak when personality A (the one with yellow eyes) overcomes personality B (I can't compete with the she-wolf that's in me); B tries to defend herself in all ways but knows that that may not be enough to save herself from the she-wolfs that lives inside herself. B even asks for information about A in She-wolf - what do you see in those yellow eyes? Quite complicated: a psychiatrist might help Sia, I think. Sounds like she might have really been under attack (abused?) when she was a child (little girs and little boys are the protagonists of the other videos I quoted). Hope all that will stimulate your interpretations
I see this song in a different perspective due to the lyrics and the music video. The video starts off with a naked woman and then transitions to a wolf being chased by hunters. The wolf has supernatural powers and can easily destroy the hunters. At the end, the wolf transforms back into the naked woman in the beginning. I view this song more like a damaged woman who has turned herself into a she-wolf to protect herself from possible "hunters" of her affection. The lyrics, "You loved me and I froze in time," symbolize that they had a great love. "Hungry for that flesh of mine" in my opinion symbolizes some type of lust that the man had for the woman. Therefore, these lyrics support my view that the song is about a damaged woman who has turned into a she-wolf to protect herself from future harm.
I really haven't read all the comments so my understanding of this song might be the same as someone else's.
I believe this song is about how a man approaches a woman. She is being "hunted down" like a "deer". It could be about the adventure of many attractive women. They are being hit on for their flesh. Not knowing if someone is in love with them or simply wants to go to bed with them. So this makes them feel like they're among "wolves"(men), who are waiting for a chance to "attack"(approach/hit on them). The song starts, the woman has been hurt emotionally by a man. But I feel like this song describes the man's and the woman's point of view. "The thrill of the kill, you feel like a sin." "Winning" a girl but feeling bad because your intentions are to simply enjoy her flesh. You might force yourself to say things you don't mean only to deceive her. You feel like you should stop but you can't. You are blinded by her beauty, willing to do anything to "win" her. You push yourself to stop but then all you can see is her face, her body, or both and the more you are exposed to them, the more instinct takes over. Then your main driving force is instinct, which explains why in this song the man is called a wolf. But what happens when the girl is herself a wolf among wolves? She knows what you want, she also wants you in a way. And that fight inside her between what's right and what her instincts want makes her fall to pieces. And whether you win that she-wolf or not is up to her. The wolf hunts down its prey and kills it. The man hits on the woman and has sex with her. The first sentence is a metaphor of the second one. To sum up, I think it's obvious that this song's center is the man's desperate hunt for women.
I think that song writers often want to let the audience decide the meaning of a song and apply it to themselves, but I also think David/Sia had a clear message here.
If you watch the video it shows a woman who is transformed to a wolf whenever hunters get near her. If you watch closely, there is one shot where it shows the hunters shoes are made of fur. This has to do with her being stepped on and degraded. The words "hungry for that flesh of mine" are a sexual reference, probably something related to him only loving her for one thing. He hunts her down for it, but when he gets to close to her, she pushes him out, fearful of his love.
I think what we've all say what relate to a dumped girl or a girl who is being cheated by her boyfriend or one of her beloved. In the video of the song on Youtube, You can see a she wolf (the narrator/a girl) was chased by the ancient men (this a past occurrence). She was chased by the men (portrays her friend who thinks she is keeping as friend ). The men were even injured on the face which might by caused by the pain she felt when her boyfriend lost interest in her. You will see it clearly that one of the men (her boyfriend) saw her yellow eyes are real self but it was too late And so, the girl(she-wolf) acted wrongly and kill all the passion of love the boyfriend had for her. You can see a he-wolf looking at the she wolf when those men are chasing. Upon all her effort, the bad girl(the two men) didn't care, and she needs to act ASAP. The concluded part reflects the girl form whether she is sorry for what she did or not. FROM TAIWO PETER
So I think this song's meaning is pretty easy to get... It's basically this girl who is having some sort of flashback or perhaps telling the story (hence the past tense through out the whole song) was dumped.
There was this guy who caught her eye because he showed an interest in her and seemingly "hunted her down". She fell in love with him and they were in a happy relationship until this other girl, the "she wolf", came. The girl's boyfriend suddenly turned his eyes to the new girl and left her.
"Did she lie and wait Was I bait, to pull you in The thrill of the kill You feel, as a sin Alone with the wolves And now it seems, I thought I was part of you"
This part it seems to me that she is getting a little suspicious about this whole relationship and so she goes and asks him if it was all a game, if this new girl (she wolf) was just using her to get to him.
The line 'was I bait, to pull you in' gives an idea she's refering to herself. She changed to suit her boyfriend, her 'she-wolf'

He fell in love when he met who she was on the inside (the bait), but now she's changed to suit his needs.

agree!! I think she-wolf means a bad girl. cunning girl. or -I am much better then her-girl. "What do you see in those yellow eyes?"

the singer cant compete the she-wolf and then givin up. "I'm falling to pieces."

Also, I believe it's "I felt like a deer in love lights" instead of "the lights"
