Endors Toi Lyrics

Soothing repeat,
I look down at my feet,
It's a hypnotist's arm,
And it works like a charm
(But I) won't be deprived,
Real worlds, surreal life,
Do or die, There is time,
Go to sleep, You'll be fine.

(In the) morning you'll find,
Real life was such a grind.
Off I go, day is done
Where a new one's just begun.

Does anyone know if the title of this song is a reference to something? Just wondering if it means something/what it means.

Unless it comes from a different language, I interpret the title to relate to the planet Endor from the original Star Wars. It fits with the theme of escapism we find in the lyrics.

The grammatical structure of the title also reminded of the science fiction novel Ender's Game...

I think it means "go to sleep" in French.

something like that. hehe star wars

Such a great song. Tame Impala is officially my favorite band at the moment. These french words translate to something like "fall asleep".

it's really a perfect song to be on lonerism. totally encapsulates escaping from the world you share with others into the only world that is completely your own. i think it's also an ode to how magical and healing sleep is, and its ability to relieve your mind from whatever crap is happening in "real life". Endors-toi -- Keving telling someone (I assume he's telling himself) to fall asleep so he/she can escape too.

The first part of the song describes how the surroundings in your dream feel completely real, but the life you lead is surreal. i'm not sure if "do or die" refers to how you can take risks or die in dream, but not suffer any consequence irl, or if it's about telling himself that he can get out of the do or die of life and find time in his sleep world to make things feel better: "Real worlds, surreal life Do or die There is time Go to sleep You'll be fine"

Waking up you're back in this exhausting world: "In the morning you'll find Real life was such a grind"

everything is going to be ok, because once the day is done you can escape by falling asleep and drifting into new worlds inside your head: "Off I go, day is done Where a new one's just begun"

My Interpretation

This song has been my favourite ever since it first came out, so four years now. To me, it's just about letting go of the stress of 'real life', calming yourself down and just feeling totally peaceful and freed. It's reassuring; "go to sleep you'll be fine!" and "off I go, day is done ... where a new one's just begun" basically just say yeah life is a grind sometimes, but relax your mind ... free yourself, in whatever way that may be for you. A bad day ends, but a fresh day is coming. I also interpret that line kind of as somewhere in the world, whilst your day is ending, a new one is just beginning. There's such an optimism to this song.
