Been a lot of places
I've been all around the world
Seen a lot of faces
Never knowing where I was

On the horizon
Mmh, well, I know, I know, I know
I know the sun will be rising
Back home

Living out of cases
Packing up and taking off
Made a lot of changes
But not forgetting who I was

On the horizon
Oh, well, I know, I know, I know
I know the moon will be rising
Back home

Don't forget where you belong, home
Don't forget where you belong, home
If you ever feel alone, don't
You were never on your own
And the proof is in this song

I've been away for ages
But I've got everything I need
I'm flicking through the pages
I've written in my memory

I feel like I'm dreaming
Oh, so I know, I know, I know
I know that I'm never leaving
No, I won't go

Don't forget where you belong, home
Don't forget where you belong, home
If you ever feel alone, don't
You were never on your own
And the proof is in this song

Lights off when they should be on
Even stars in the skies, they're wrong
Short days when the nights are long
When I think of the days I've gone
Don't matter how far I've gone
I'm always free to run home

Don't forget where you belong, home
Don't forget where you belong (don't forget it), home
If you ever feel alone, don't
You were never on your own
Never, never, never

Don't forget where you belong, home
Don't forget where you belong (don't forget it), home
If you ever feel alone, don't
You were never on your own (you were never)
And the proof is in this song

Home
Don't forget it
Home
If you ever feel alone, don't
You were never on your own (you were never)
And the proof is in this song

Never forget it
This song
Don't forget it
No, I never forget it
This song
You were never

    My Interpretation

I think this song is about a lot of things.

    1. It about not losing yourself or who you are. Often times with fame people can lose sight of who they really are and let the fame change you. The message 'don't forget where you belong' is somewhat a reminder that no matter how big these boys may get they should remember their pasts and how it wasn't always like this.

    2. Not getting lost in the crowd. Again with fame sometimes you can get overwhelmed and fell lost in a sea of people. Being away from your loved ones can make you feel lonely and this is a reminder that there is always someone who loves them and will be there for them, but more importantly, that they will always be there for each other (If you eve feel alone, don't. You were never on your own and the proof is in this song).

    3. Reassurances to their loved ones back home. With touring, award shows, interviews, and promotions these guys spend a lot of time away from home and the people they love. This song was written as a sort of reassurance that no matter how far away they go for however long of a time, they'll always return to home.

    4. Staying together as a band. There have been plenty of rumors that the band are breaking up and solo careers so this is their message to each other and their fans that they belong in the band and no where else. ("I feel like I'm dreaming. Oh, so I know, I know, I know, I know that I'm never leaving. No, I won't go.") Also this is saying that when they're away for long periods of time that they are their own little sense of home. I find that this idea especially resonates in the line "Don't matter how far I've gone I'm always feeling at home." meaning that the boys are each others homes as well.

These are just a few of my ideas of what the song is about.

I think this about growing up. How in the end regardless to what are who you are you still have your family or someone supporting you. This is also about them singing to their families about how they think about them, support them and won't forget them, even though they're touring.

I've always thought that this song is about not forgetting your roots. Everybody needs a little reality check after being successful, and rising to the top.
