Greens And Blues Lyrics
My bits all wander in the trees
And if I ever seem a little strange
Would you excuse me please
I'm only visiting this shore
I'll soon be leaving in the outbound tide
I pray again we will meet
Maybe best you go on home
I'll leave you alone, fade from your mind
Slip into the greens and blues
I'm only visiting this shore
I'll soon be leaving in the outbound tide
I pray again we will meet
Maybe best you go on home
I'll leave you alone, fade from your mind
Slip into the greens and blues
Greens and blues
Greens and blues
Greens and blues
Maybe best you go on home
I'll leave you alone, fade from your mind
Slip into the greens and blues
Maybe best you go on home
I'll leave you alone, fade from your mind
Slip into the greens and blues

I think all of the relationship interpretations are pretty accurate. The one thing I'd say, based on a lot of former Pixies lyrics... I think the Green and Blue has a reference to Green and Blue algae - basically the beginning of life on earth that evolved from the oceans.
For example - 'My bits all wander in the trees.'
but mostly - 'I said I'm human, but you know I lied. I'm only visiting this shore. I'll soon be leaving in the outbound tide.'
It reminds me of lyrics from the Pixies song ('A Sad Punk', I believe) - which goes '...and evolving from the sea, would not take too much time for me, to walk beside you in the sun.'
Frank has always had a lot of references to ocean life (Thalassacracy, Wave of Mutilation, etc.) - so it fits that theme for me.
@skibble21 agreed. Very consistent and elegant analysis.

@skibble21 I think your interpretation is terrific. Lots of aquatic references in Pixies songs, certainly - don't forget Where is my Mind? Also I'd add the Frank Black has lived in Eugene, Oregon for a while. - in Southern Oregon there used to be a huge industry selling "super blue green algae" for all sorts of purposes (although Klamath Lake has no tides). The algae craze has since diminished.

It's about a missed connection, or being unable to commit to a relationship. An inability for any romantic relationship.

I believe it's a song about the apathy and falling out of love. There are feelings that remain but it's a love that can't work from too many person issues or history.
The color spectrum is made of Red Green and Blue. Red being the color of love. Slipping into greens and blues, no red. Detaching from feeling love by going into a comfortably cold place.

I agree that it's a song about a missed connection. I feel that it's about a previously very much in love couple who are going through a rough patch and perhaps, at least temporarily, falling out of love . One is finding it difficult to reciprocate the same love and affection that the other shows towards them and thus feels they are now wasting the time of the one who loves them so.
"I'm not together, and you know it's true. My bits all wander in the trees" to me translates as "We both know I have some issues. But I'd prefer to avoid the subject" And "I said I'm human but you know I lied" is said person feeling they are so removed from the person they were in the beginning of the relationship, that they feel almost alien, guilty, and unworthy of their lover. To "slip into the greens and blues" is the want to be barely a memory in the vast ocean of the mind.
Until they sort out their personal issues, they want to disappear. However, they feel universally connected and hope to meet, reconnect and give love another shot in the future.
- My personal take on this song, anyway.

To me, it\'s a song about not feeling like a part of the world you wish you could belong too, but feeling like a stranger, an alien, and I can\'t help but hear the sadness, a sweet resignation that, I\'ve wasted your time on a dream I knew would never come true, but I couldn\'t resist to sing about you and I hope in another form of reality I will get to be truly with and beside you

Sad to say that I'm quite disapointed of pixies EP2.. But maybe I just haven't got it yet.

He's talking about oxys, (greens are the 15mg blues are the 30mg) and how easy it is to ditch a relationship if you've got a bunch of pills to fall back on.
