Until It's Gone Lyrics
A breath to build a glow.
I’ve heard it said a thousand times,
But now I know...
Oh, you don’t know what you’ve got,
No, you don’t know what you’ve got,
Until it’s gone...
Until it’s gone!
I thought I made you strong.
But something made me realize,
That I was wrong.
‘Cause finding what you’ve got sometimes means finding it alone.
And I can finally see your light when I let go...
Until it’s gone.
Until it’s gone.
Until it’s gone.
Until it’s gone...
Until it’s gone...
Until it’s gone...
Until it’s gone...
Oh, you don’t know what you’ve got,
No, you don’t know what you’ve got,
It’s your battle to be fought!
No, you don’t know what you’ve got,
Until it’s gone.
Until it’s gone!

I think it's quite obvious what it's about. This song is very mainstream and the lyrics aren't complicated COMPARED to other songs on the album.

I think it's about that sometimes, you need some space and some time alone to find what life holds for you (fire needs a space to burn) . The speaker looks back at a relationship that ended. He thought he did it all right ( I thought I kept you safe and sound, I thought Imade you strong) then "something made me realise that I was wrong". He learnt that you have to find your own place in life, and then you burn brighter (I can finally see your light). Now that he looks back, the speaker realises what he has lost, but for the other person it was necessary that he let go.

I think is that when he let go it was the right thing to do. He was wrong trying to hold on, and found out it was the right thing to do when he let it go.
