Florida Kilos Lyrics
Don't know what they mean,
They're special just for you,
White palms, bakin' powder on the stove,
Cooking up a dream, turnin' diamonds into snow
Turn it up hot, loving you is free,
I like it down, like it down way low,
But you already know that, you already know
We could see the kilos or the keys, baby oh yeah,
Guns in the summertime,
Chica, cherry, cola, lime,
Prison is a nothing to me,
If you'll be by my side
And all the dope fiends,
Yayo, yayo, yayo
You like your little baby, like you like your drinks, cool,
White lines, pretty daddy, goes kid;
You snorted like a chimp, like the winner when I'm in,
We could see the kilos or the keys, baby oh yeah,
Guns in the summertime,
Chica, cherry, cola, lime,
Prison is a nothing to me,
If you'll be by my side
And all the dope fiends,
Yayo, yayo, yayo
Dance the night away,
People never die in Miami,
That's what they all say
We could see the kilos or the keys, baby oh yeah,
Guns in the summertime,
Chica, cherry, cola, lime,
Prison don't mean nothing to me,
If you'll be by my...
All the Floridians like,
Yayo, yayo, yayo,
All the Columbians like,
Yayo, yayo, yayo,
And all my girlfriends,
Yayo, yayo, yayo,
That's how we do it
White lines, pretty baby,
Gold teeth, pretty baby,
Dance the night away

This song is about a couple that deals together living in Miami, FL. There are multiple hints that this is about cocaine, number one obviously being that she says "yayo" repeatedly and cocaine is in kilo bricks, hence Florida Kilos. The "white lines" are lines of cocaine. "White palms, baking powder on the stove, cooking up a dream.." They're not baking a cake, they're cooking up some crack. "Guns in the summertime, drink a cherry cola lime" I don't think this has anything to do with being on a diet and wanting to be fit with "guns" for the summer, it's simply setting a summer scene and it's an actual gun. They're drug dealers.. "We could see the kilos or the keys" again with the kilos and "keys" reference what someone people use to snort the coke "Prison isn't nothing to me if you'll be by my side" Assuming they at some point get caught selling dope, they're obviously going to prison "We could get high in Miami" "You snort it like a champ" Pretty self explanatory
@clouds1 by keys I think she meant the florida keys https://www.google.com.br/maps/place/Florida+Keys,+Flórida,+EUA/@24.871131,-82.3069246,8z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x88d059c8eea56e71:0x3f42cfd9464f486a!8m2!3d24.5557359!4d-81.7826537

Yayo is slang for cocaine. And this song is obviously about someone who does/deals coke.
Yayo is her cats name who is white like the snow and she bakes cakes for it. None of you understand her love for white kitties, look at the rolling stone cover. SHIYAAT!

@Blondelle80 Yes, yayo is cocaine. Lana loves the Scarface movie, she even has a song named on it, with excerpts from the movie on the beginning. In this movie, they use the word "yayo" for cocaine. And she is always about gangster love, tony montana and all.

I think 'guns in the summertime' is referring to Guns N Roses. That's what guns is short for.

This song clearly convey's Lana's wish for there to be snow in tropical climates in the winter so that Floridians (and Colombians) can enjoy the White Christmases Lana was so fond of growing up in the Northeast.
The lyric "white lines, pretty baby, tattoos" is obviously a metaphor for snowflakes, as each one is unique, like a tattoo. The line "turning diamonds into snow" further supports this theory. Lana mentions "Guns in the summertime" to further assert her distaste for warm, sunny weather. I can only assume that "yayo" is a phrase combining the words "YAY, snOw!"
So I think this is on the right track, but is missing a lot of important details. First of all, you're right that it is about climate, but she wants to move somewhere warm and is too fat to do so. The word kilos is in the title, and is a definite hint from Lana this is about an obese person trying to lose weight by going on a diet. This individual wants to move to a tropical climate and have "guns in the summertime" (guns being toned arm muscles).

The narrator is clearly obsessed with food: in...
The narrator is clearly obsessed with food: in the first verse she mentions baking soda, a common ingredient in baked goods which are not typically allowed on diets. The mention of Cherry Cola Lime is an even more important reference because it serves as a flashback to when the narrator was less healthy and consumed carbonated beverages filled with sugar- the reference to prison in the following line sends this point home. Sugar consumption historically put her into the prison of obesity.
So basically I totally agree with your thinking that weather is involved, but also think you didn't correctly assess the climate she wanted to be in, or why. Good effort though. She's just a girl that's too fat to live in Florida, but is going on a diet so she can.
White lines are not obviously snowflakes, they're actually white lines of cocaine and she definitely does not have a distaste for sunny weather, as the setting is meant to be sunny and hot. When she says snow she's still referencing cocaine because it's also white. Yayo is another slang for cocaine, not a mix of yay snow.

I agree with hashtaggenius. I think you are really grasping at straws trying to make this about drugs, clouds1. Your insistence to make everything about drugs is sad, and you even took the adorable "yay snow" abbreviation and made it into a sickening nickname for illicit substances. If you need to talk to someone, I'm here for you. I'm worried you may have a drug problem. Hopefully once you see this song is about a chubby girl who wants to lose weight to move to Florida, everything in your life will become clear.

One last thing: Lana is...
One last thing: Lana is a recovered alcoholic. These sorts of analyses undermine her sobriety and I find it to be unkind and offensive. Please think more thoughtfully about the feelings and points of view of others before acting in the future.

I think the song is about Spring Breakers, because Harmony Korine, the director of that movie, wrote this song with Lana and another guy.

I think your all wrong...its OBVIOUSLY about a cute white kitty named Yayo, so just stop all the non sense here.

Both of the Genius people ...you have valid points though..ill put it into consideration. BUT you Clouds1...You should be ashamed of yourself! Lana would never do drugs, She's an Angel. Toodles.
