Walla Walla Lyrics

Hi my little naked man
I saw you there looking sad
Face so lost, petrified
Timid twitch in your wide eyes

My oh my such strange supplies
Many spoons all in a pile
Did you bend them with your mind?
Precious precious right right right

Honey honey, don’t you cry
It’s a ruse, all these creatures are a lie
Funny bunny, it’s alright
I clap my hands and they’re gone into the night

Wiggle toes on wicker braid
Hanging with their nails so frayed
Many fruits all bone dry
And a cape, black tie-dyed

I bet I can make you smile
In the pools of moonlight
Watch this little trick of mine
Say with me this tiny rhyme

Honey honey, don’t you cry
It’s a ruse, all these creatures are a lie
Funny bunny, it’s alright
I clap my hands and they’re gone into the night

Take my hand, take my hand
Take my hand, take my hand
Take my hand, take my hand
Take my hand, take my hand

This song is from the perspective of a drug dealer talking to a heroin addict, knowing that he can be taken advantage of since he needs the drug, which has destroyed his whole life. The first verse introduces the man, naked, scared and lost, with a twitch in his eye, likely from withdrawal, showing that his life is a mess, but the dealer does not care because he can take advantage of him. The dealer then teases the man, addressing a pile of spoons, which can be used for heating heroin, making fun of how precious they are to him. He further comments on the man's appearance and then tells him that he can make him smile and feel better, by getting high. The chorus is the dealer comforting the addict as he gets anxious and sees things as he gets high. He tells him that what he is seeing is not real, and that he can make them disappear, demonstrating his power over the addict. This song captures the evil intentions of this dealer, who can see that this man's life is in ruins from his heroin addiction, but only encourages him to do more so that he can profit.

I think this song is about magic and ritual. I don’t really agree with the whole drug abuse perspective. Seems too typical, sure spoons are mentioned, but not every song with a spoon is a reference to heroin. This melody has more of a fantastic desperation to it. Like when you play with fire, you might get burned. Hence the illusion of the creature which can be wished away by a simple clap. The whole narrative illustrates a deep woods witches coven or voodoo hut. Bending spoons with your mind is clearly a reference to someone’s who’s working magic or testing their will power. Some get lost in the mastery of themselves, even become homeless.
