Zoom Lyrics

You know you're not the only one
to see the boy that you
hold very close to you
He's not your kind of guy
I hope you realize

I have no care for answers
'Cos now you're standing only next to me, Oh Oh
So take me on a tangent
'Cos tangible is something we perceive, Oh Oh

[Chorus]
I don't want to be just another
fighter without fire, nothing to inspire
In a million years when we're older,
Finally we can be part of history

From retrospective points of view,
It's time to reinvent
Don't care to what extent
Subconscious disarray
I want to look away
I'll live for shadow play
I can't tell the difference when everyone's pretending to play ball, Oh Oh
Now I'm all for resistance,
But I can't take it anymore, Oh Oh

I don't want to be just another
fighter without fire, nothing to inspire
In a million years when we're older,
Finally we can be part of history

I don't want to be just another
fighter without fire, nothing to inspire
In a million years when we're older,
Finally we can be part of history

Finally we can be part of history

I told you, I tell myself
It's alright, alright, alright

I don't want to be just another
fighter without fire, nothing to inspire
In a million years when we're older,
Finally we can be part of history

I don't want to be just another
fighter without fire, nothing to inspire
In a million years when we're older,
Finally we can be part of history

Also, I really like how the song starts out as a tape being played. It kind of reinforces the idea that the entire album was written in a "retrospective point of view." This is a look on a past events and it's about coming to terms with them.

So I was listening to an acoustic version of this song, and I made out "You want to know just how I cope. I'll tell you: I tell myself, 'it's alright.'" I think it's really neat. I love everything about this entire album, and I know it's probably really cliche, but to me, it all just screams not being able to have someone that you want. And I think that's really emphasized by the whole "In A Million Years" part, because isn't that what people say when they hear an absurd proposal? Something that'll happen "in a million years" is something that'll never happen.

You know you're not the only one To see the boy that you Hold very close to you He's not your kind of guy I hope you realize I Think the song is between two "lovers", but the "love" is one sided. It's between to best friends. One being a guy and the other being the girl who is always liking some other guy. In this part of the song the guy is basically jelous of some other dude that the girl likes. This guys knows the girl well, and he knows the other dude is clearly not her type. I have no care for answers 'Cos now you're standing only next to me, Oh Oh So take me on a tangent 'Cos tangible is something we perceive, Oh Oh The guy doesn't want to hear the answers the girl gets from other guys. She's alone now and shes by his side and he supporting her through being in and out of relationships, even though mentioned before guys might not be her type and things would not work out. Where it says "Coss tangible is something we perceive" is saying their relationship would be realistic because they get each other. [Chorus] I don't want to be just another Fighter without fire, nothing to inspire In a million years when we're older, Finally we can be part of history Here, the guy is getting tired of being let down. "I don't want to be just another" he's growing old of always being caught in the friend zone. He's liked her for so long but is now giving up, hence "finally we can be part of history"

From retrospective points of view, It's time to reinvent Don't care to what extent Subconscious disarray I want to look away I'll live for shadow play Looking in the past, he realizes he's always been the girls freind and mabey its him that needs to change. He try's to reinvent himself in some way in hope the girl will notice him more then just a friend. He uses it as a distraction because he hates shadowing the girls relationship with other guys which he wishes he had.

"Now I'm all for resistance, But I can't take it anymore, Oh Oh" The guy wants to resist telling the girl how he really feels because he thinks he will loose the friendship, but he cant take it anymore

I told you, I tell myself It's alright, alright, alright The guy once again is let down and put in the friend zone. He shakes it of and tells both himself and the girl its alright, even though he truly loved this girl for a while

There is an innate human desire to offer something for the world. Oftentimes what is offered is some form of artistic expression. This struggle to reinvent and innovate is leading towards the "Subconscious Disarray" in the retrospective mindset being experienced.

In order to cope with life, form a unique identity, and also get the girl he's talking too to fall in love with him, he leads towards Puppetry, referred to in the song as Shadow Play.

Shadow Play is a common hobby performed by a wide variety of cultures around the world, including Australia where Last Dinosaurs fittingly live.

"I'll live for shadow play" this line seems to me represents a deeply cultured ancient hobby which a person may become passionate about.

Through the shadow play, one will attempt to express stories deeply involved with the human spirit in life, yet he "can't tell the difference when everyone's pretending to play ball ( by being ultra competitive striving to be the best ) the life stories that he may be trying to present all seem the same.

This is a stress towards the goal, "resistance" as mentioned in the song, but it all seems to be hard to handle. "But I can't take it anymore".

And later in the song, he is reinforcing himself that he is "alright".

There is a pressing need to be somebody who is inspirational or to create something inspirational, and if the goal is finally accomplished "we can be apart of history".

Also there are two more parts I really enjoy.

"'Cos now you're standing only next to me, Oh Oh So take me on a tangent 'Cos tangible is something we perceive, Oh Oh"

it seems to me that the reason he gives himself, and the girl, for enjoying the moment is simply because the moment exists, and moments are perceived. Perceptions are all unique to the people who experience them, yet they can be shared. Sharing of perceptions is possibly the greatest part of being a human being.

"I told you, I tell myself It's alright, alright, alright"

the only thing I have to point here is that alright is stated three times. Three times is the charm.

RGB there are three true colors perceived by the eye. Theistic religion concerns the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. A triangle has 3 angles, and is always powerfully compositionally used in arts of all kinds, especially Film. Illuminati, pyramids... ahh well to finish this thought by alright being stated three times, he is trying to come to term with life in the way countless others have too following retrospective stress, through a very broad sense of 3.
