Apocalypse Dreams Lyrics
It could be the day that all our dreams come true
For me and you
Til we’re at the end of just another day
Just to end up with an educated guess
Like success
Like those times you wake up mystified
Never had something so close I couldn't keep
Into the day, the strangest feeling
Do you really live without the fear?
And there’s nothing I can do
My world is turning pages
While I am just sitting here
Will I ever get there
Does it even matter
Push it out the window
On and on we all go
Into another morning
Doesn't even matter
It was only yesterday
Now I’m gonna miss you
No matter how long you do your hair
It looks the same to everyone else
Everything is changin’
I guess I should warn my mom
But she’ll just be excited

This song makes a lot of sense to me. Having a massive, epic daydream that is more real than real life - your dreams coming true, the love of your life, pushing through your problems... but it's just a dream. You come back to reality and it's terrifying, so you keep retreating to the dream, trying to recapture that feeling. The scariness of life starts bleeding over into the dream, twisting it... do you really need all these goals? What's so bloody great about life anyway? You tell yourself you've stopped caring. Paralysed by your apocalypse dreams, the world turns too fast for you to keep up with...
Such a loner's concept; god I love these guys and their fantastic introverted music.

These are the correct lyrics here - I have the Lonerism booklet in front of me!
This could be the day that we push through It could be the day that all our dreams come true For me and you Til we’re at the end of just another day
Are you yoo terrified to try your best Just to end up with an educated guess Like success Like those times you wake up mystified
Oh, it feels so real in my sleep Never had something so close I couldn't keep Into the day, the strangest feeling Do you really live without the fear?
Everything is changin’ And there’s nothing I can do My world is turning pages While I am just sitting here
Am I getting closer Will I ever get there Does it even matter
Do I really need it Push it out the window On and on we all go Into another morning Doesn't even matter It was only yesterday
Didn’t even know you Now I’m gonna miss you
Nothing ever changes No matter how long you do your hair It looks the same to everyone else Everything is changin’ I guess I should warn my mom But she’ll just be excited

One thing I love about Tame Impala's music is how the lyrics can mean a lot of different things in many people's lives. Perhaps this is why so many people can relate to the lyrics and feel a certain way from them. The part that resonates with me the most is the end, how "nothing ever changes" and "everything is changing". Even the parts of our lives with the most change, there are fundamental parts that stay the same. No matter how long you do your hair, it looks the same to everyone else. Don't dwell on things that don't matter, look at the big picture. This is just one interpretation, but I'm sure it's meaningful to other people for many other reasons.

I really love this song... but I am a little puzzled by the meaning... I think it is about a relationship, but bad. The name of the song says: Apocalypse dreams
For me the whole song looks like a big dream. For example, he was dreaming that he met some girl that he "didn´t even know" her and "now he´s gonna miss her"
and when he woke up he realized that it was bad it was just apocalypse dream.
but it is just my guess
it could be also song that you should listen to it and don´t care about meaning ´cause no meaning is there. I don´t know.

This song can mean lots of things , for example : 1.'it wasn't real' meaning Literally that it was just a dream, maybe an apocalypse kind cuz if you get to know this person your search is over, or ,your life as you know it, might be over
- The way you put all your bets on somebody but it wasn't real love, just a crush.
- Open your eyes just to realize that your partner fool you.
- You just realize that this person was more than just a friend, and you trully care about he/she -maybe as a lover xD-
- This new person you've just meet it's already putting your life upsidedown, breaking all your rules and he/she is even better than your archetype of a soulmate.
- .... the list goes on.

But I don´t understand to this
"But she´d just be excited" Wtf? The just is unlogical there, isn´t it?
He's feeling reluctant now that the change is coming, and he can't stop it. He's worked for it, waited for it, maybe pined for it. Now that it's coming he doesn't know what to do with it...

Fairly cool but till doesn't explain the 'just.'

Kev seems to be referring to a woman with the 'no matter how long you do your hair.' He's obviously ripping into her by saying 'nothing ever changes' when referring to her.

This is then juxtaposed with 'Everything is changing...' where he is more likely talking about his life (recent success etc) and also referring to his relationship with her degrading with the changing life (...not necessarily as a result of it...)

'Just' is being used as an adverb here (describing the verb which in this case is 'be'...
'Just' is being used as an adverb here (describing the verb which in this case is 'be' - 'But she'll just be excited) The specific meaning of just used in this text means you could replace 'just' with 'merely' or 'only.' Let's say in this verse perhaps Kev is speaking of the growing distance in between himself and the woman. By putting 'just/merely/only in front of excited he is inferring that the woman may have expected a different result - his mum could have reacted more ominously in light of his life changing or been sad about the relationship because she actually gave a shit about this woman but 'she'll just be excited' A less polite way of saying it could've been "Even my mum thinks you're a joke"
So by putting 'just' in, not only is the audience is informed that the woman expected the mum to act differently but they are left unsure about exactly how she actually expected the mum to feel about the relationship breakdown. He's saying that she think she's special, without making any direct accusations.
But that's just my interpretation, Hope it's not 'Un'logical
it could be a reference to the writers more personal life. something we wouldnt get obviously.

Here he describes the meaning of the entire album, then apocalypse dreams specifically

It's about acid, breaking through in particular.
Acid and alcohol. Best things ever.
Acid and alcohol. Best things ever.

It's another song about Stevie.

He says it in the speakeasy interview. It may mean other stuff too but its "...about these recurring ummm, dreams I kept having of like the end of the world"
