To me this is about the youthful mind. About how a young man who wants freedom and a chance for independence but really is inexperienced and will struggle alone without the support of his family and friends around him.

This sounds like it's a song about a lack of confidence and focus can lead to huge missed opportunities. In this instance, he runs across someone he could save, but he's just scared and anxious, and he misses the opportunity. Ironically he's asking for people to pray for him. The beginning of the song shows he wasn't there for the right reasons as well. This is probably easier to understand if you are familiar with Mormon culture.
Seems to me like this song is about a traveler who goes back to his church and maybe is confronted by other people to believe ("I've had enough") or maybe want him to leave ("Ill bolt soon or later"). Seems like he shows this photograph to maybe share an anecdote with a fellow native of the church or town (Not sure why)... He asks for a brother and sister of the church to pray for him, because, maybe he's just stopping by and doesn't want to be confronted or harassed by the natives of the church about his traveling or lack of faith...
most of the band members are Mormon, which is a religion. when boys are 19, they can choose to go on a mission ( "I'm just a man A man on a mission." ) and preach our gospel. you get a photograph taken of yourself, hence "I took a photograph of me When I was only nineteen." and he's telling his family to pray for him.
Just adding to the other comments: I think he's saying "I want no trouble" in reference that he knows some mission trips can be dangerous (depending on where you're going,) and doesn't want any trouble or anyone to get hurt.
