So this is my apology
For saying all those shitty things
I wish I didn't really mean
I'm sorry, I'm not sorry
You had your red flags up and raised
More traffic than east LA
But I drove in anyway
My common sense on holiday
People fall out of face, we were a crash course
We would just be a place stuck on your passport
You travel to some time
But I hope you will find

Someone to cry for, someone to try for
Someone to turn your crooked roads into her streets
Someone to fight for, someone to die for
Someone whose arms will hold you tight enough to be
The reason you breathe
Be the reason you breathe

We stay in love like vacation homes
You're like summers on the sunny coast
But when the cold needs a winter coat
You say you will until you don't
You wore a compass around your neck
A different north than we ever read
Well did you get where you're going yet?
Wish you the worst, wish you the best
I don't know how I fell into your rearview
Paralyzed, lullaby, I couldn't hear you
So I hope you were right
And next to you tonight

There's someone to cry for, someone to try for
Someone to turn your crooked roads into her streets
Someone to fight for, someone to die for
Someone whose arms will hold you tight enough to be
The reason you breathe
Be the reason you breathe

So this is my apology
For saying all those shitty things
I wish I didn't really mean
Sorry, I'm not sorry

    Memory

I remember that when the "Piece by Piece" album came out, I was just going through a pretty harsh "breakup". The whole album spoke to me at that time, but this is THE song that stuck around even after I got over it.

"So this is my apology For saying all those shitty things I wish I didn't really mean I'm sorry, I'm not sorry"

I did apologize back then for everything I felt or didn't feel guilty for, in hopes of fixing our friendship and now I realize that I had nothing to apologize for.

"You had your red flags up and raised More traffic than east LA But I drove in anyway My common sense on holiday"

I could have seen the signs that we were never going to work, but I did decide to not see them. I know his Ex, I know why it didn't work with her and I could have seen the same patterns with me. I just didn't want to see them and when I did, it was too late.

"But I hope you will find Someone to cry for, someone to try for Someone to turn your crooked roads into her streets..."

Now that we´re over, I do truly wish him a companion that will make him face his comittment issues, someone where he will be the one to want her, not the other way around, like it was with me.

"Someone whose arms will hold you tight enough to be the reason you breathe"

But I also wish him someone who will want him back, unlike his ex.

"You wore a compass around your neck A different north than we ever read Well did you get where you're going yet? Wish you the worst, wish you the best I don't know how I fell into your rearview"

He gave me all the signs that he was interested in me, and then suddenly it's "I did just pity you." I honestly don't know what happened in his mind to change it so drastically and I hated him for playing me that expertly at first, but I can't hate him any more. With all of my heart, I wish him someone better suited for him than me.
